In the early sixties we had a 51 ford and a 52 Chevy
my winter memories are guessing if the radio would start to play or would we get heat first
the colder it was the longer it took.

On my old 40 coupe I used to block off part of the radiator - that helped getting heat faster. I still do that with my 32 coupe as it has hood tops but no sides as is my avatar …..

A V6 should have no trouble starting in the winter. I got nothing, sorry.

All my flathead V8's are 6 volt with no problems. My T is 6 volt too but does have a 6 volt alternator and always starts even in real cold weather. My basically stock Model A's are 12 volt cuz T and A generators hate me so they have alternators!

  7. As a Canadian that's in a place where -40 isn't a newsworthy event, seeing anything older then 30 years old on the road in the winter would be quite a strange sight. How do you keep the salt from eating your car alive?

I don’t drive mine when they are salting the roads. Thankfully, that is only a few days a year in typical years where I am.

Before my time, started driving 64, the only 6 volt I had was my wife's restored 51 Buick Roadmaste, summer use only. I can remember my Dad having a spare battery in the house, jumper cables, carb spray ? deicer ? in gas tank when it got cold, also I learned several bad words very early. LOL

Was driving my F-1 pickup (6v, flathead power) a couple weeks ago and realized I really need to put a heater in here!
So that is my current project....... restore and install the OE Magic Air heater.
