Wasting time in an antique store got me this haul. I was wasting time until I bought this 1967 dremel kit with papers. the gauges are SW from 68-72 if I read the date codes correctly. The tach is 6v so will need a voltage reducer to work in my wagon. The fender pads came in their original carrying bags.
Estate sale finds of the weekend. Got this green starburst trash can for 50 cents, now in my shop bathroom. This Mopar dealer detailing kit was also 50 cents. I think it's newer but it has the Pentastar on it yet, I probably kept it out of the trash. And I adopted someone's shoe horn collection for $2.50. No idea why I decided I needed these but apparently I did.
Ahhh . . . Smudge pots. But now I'm puzzled by what that big clamp is for and how everything stacks together like that.
Reminds me of a sign I read at a swap meet decades ago, something like this... One of my biggest fears is after I die my wife's going to sell all my car parts for what I told her I paid for them.
Also called road flares. This is the only picture I could find with a quick search. The bracket on the one I pictured would mount on the side of the bed or inside the bed of the truck.
Some estate sale finds. I have seen the Williams wrench sign in a tool wholesale catalog from the 20s or 30s, with hooks in it to hang wrenches on, in a hardware store. Mine never had hooks. I'm 6'5" for size comparison. The dashboard tag is from the estate sale of a secret service agent.
Picked up a ton of early "Hot Rod" ***led magazines as well as some related "Little books" by Petersen Publications (who printed HR) as well as other ***les like Car Craft and Rod and custom! Also got 3 of these Popular Mechanics magazines today. Total of $13. I'm so stoked! I love this kind of stuff. Even had a few early black and white ones. Late 40's all the way up to mid 60's. Also scored a bunch of cool old stuff! Bunch of old 30's/40's craftsman and proto tools
Here's what yours might have looked like when they were new, with a cool imprinted storage case. Also seen them listed as a "kerosene flare" or a "Toledo Torch". https://getagripandmore.com/products/anthes
That Craftsman tool chest looks like an early Kennedy Tool Box design. Like one of their older machinist's chests. Any markings on it that might designate its age? The J.C. Higgins aluminum chest cooler is a beauty too; another gem from Sears Roebuck.
I remember seeing those smudge flare things in use in the 50s. They made some black smoke in the daylight.
The craftsman box is early/mid 30's...it actually doesn't have slides, it has these brackets that the drawers ride on. I have a later one that has actual slides. Even though the box may appear rough, it's actually in really good structural shape. Most of paint and decal is intact and there is no rust. I need to spend some time cleaning it. The JC Higgins cooler is in super good shape. I couldnt leave it behind for $20. It has that super cool post war aluminum look. All the hinges and seals are intact. This is my 3rd mid size cooler. I have 2 vintage thermos models and now this one.
