I've just gotten home from another great weekend away, I was asked to ride shotgun for a mate who was invited to be part of the run. The run was held in NE Victoria, based in the town Yakandandah. It was a great weekend, with a very laid back crowd & vibe over the weekend. these are some photo's I've taken & hopefully others will chime in. the crew who organised the weekend did an awesome job, not sure of their handles here, hopefully they will get tagged the Grey 34 Roadster was my ride.
thanks Glenn Cheetahs Rod club had a coffee run this morning , about 30 plus rods showed up very hot up here Noel
Thanks for the pics Glenn, was a great run but sure was a hot drive home. We had 3 generations of the Swift family there, all driving hot rods. Paxton our grandson got his licence in December and he was driving the wife's 33-5W, Corey in his 32 roadster and me in the 32-5W.
Looks like a cool time- what was your car count, did you eat something, or somewhere interesting? Inquiring minds want to know. It has been a few years since we planned a run… We used this Jack Murphy art for our invitations.
This is the 15th Reliability Run the River City Coupe & Roadster Club have put on, It starts Friday evening but we rolled in at about 1030 in the morning & there were already hot rods parked up the street. Yakandandah is a town that has most of its original shop fronts & makes for a lovely backdrop for a day out especially with pre 36 traditional coupes & roadsters. Friday was filled with bench racing & catching up, lubricating conversation & checking out some of the local shops. Friday evening one of the local community groups catered dinner with more time checking out the Hot Rods & an Auction to fundraise for the run with surplus going to community groups. I'll update when I have more time, or someone else can carry on, I hope there's more photos added. @Wardog @wandi harry anything else to add?
There were 94 entrants but only 80 cars. This was the biggest it's ever been with around 70 cars being the usual. It's an invite only event for 36 and earlier coupes and roadsters and cars are vetted by the club. There were 12 new cars this year and they were top cl*** and shows that this style of hot rodding is still alive here. I like Jack Murphy's art, art for this run was by Coby Gewertz (sp?) Maybe @Outback or someone with better computer skills than me can post this runs art.
I was just coming back to this thread to post the video that @Outback posted above…. Looks like it was a great time and makes me want to visit down there again…
Here are most of what I took. I was busy driving and talking… plus my wife takes better photos than me. It was nice to catch up @Outback
Thanks for posting that Rhys, did Terry's 35 behave itself on the drive home? The warm weather and the hilly country definitely made it a "Reliability Run" this year.
This was a bit of an undertaking, 80 hot rods in a town of 1100 inhabitants. Having a local community group provide some catering was a great idea, or maybe that is just the normal course in your country. I did a little digging and found some 2023 coverage where the HAMB logo was on the banner. Fifteen years is a great accomplishment!
We made it home, but it had its moments! we think the condenser started to go bad. initially thought it was fuel evaporation but it was breaking down under load on inclines so terry is going to dig in and investigate this week after a rest. I however didn't quite make it home in my f100. I had a m***ive backfire coming down off Macedon trying to overtake a cruise control happy civilian. bogged down and ran out of steam, after some under bonnet investigating i discovered that the backfire managed to burn the ****erfly out of my gas carb and had to get a tow home. hoping to find out how bad the damage is today now that the temperature has calmed down. @Big Al did you get home ok?
was good to catch up with you guys, it made me smile watching you guys as you rolled around together hope to catch up again soon Good to catch up again, chat soon Yes it was good to catch up, hopefully it won't be so long between the next one What did you find with the truck? Was good to see you, forgot to ask how your tudor is going?
Looks like you guys know how to do it just right down under. Thanks for sharing these amazing Hot Rods.
Good to see you too! f100: Replaced the carb and got it to fire, running rough. no compression on first hole. decided to pull the head and discovered the head was sad. new head and gaskets going in today. Tudor: We've had to tear it down to bare rails and basically fix and replace a lot. but all that is in the rear view mirror now. got the body back on just before Christmas so it'll be on the road in the next few months
