I've an Offenhauser head like you have on the p***enger side, dog-power_8-2014.jpg and one that has the t'stat housing that's parallel to the machined face on the driver's side... they have been installed like this for the past 30 years.:D:rolleyes:

I’ve seen a pair like those but I can’t remember what the feller said about why they were like that. I’d like a set like them if I could find some at a decent price.

I do know that the feller told me that they were early 8BA heads and if you put the factory water neck on them they would be offset to run multiple carburetors and offset generator.

    That’s all I got….

  9. Not sure, but I did a quick run through my favorite internet search engine, and I need to know why brand-new finned aluminum flathead heads are almost $1700 bucks these days. WTF...

The tariffs have made it economically unfeasible to make them in China.

  11. Well here's hoping my current ones don't have any electrolysis damage like my Edelbrocks ended up developing, I added more grounds and stopped running straight water after that incident. Geez.

Can't help with the OP's original question, but they would help in some situations.

Are/were there any heads made in China? Both of the big players, Offy & Edelbrock, have been made in the USA for as long as I can remember.

  13. If you're looking for new heads, I'd checkout Summit Racing for Edelbrock heads. They are about $1000 - not cheap, but not $1700 either:

I had a set of those 8BA style OFFY heads that I bought used for $5 in 1963 off a marine engine.
Although they were used on marine engines they can be easily used in cars because they are horizontal.

  15. Blower Manifold: Hey, does anybody happen to know who made the blower manifold shown in the OPs original picture? It looks like an H&H product . . . just checking if anybody else happens to know?

You might try running a magnesium (NOT zinc) sacrificial anode.

I also run water and have great success using a product called No-Rosion.

    Here is their site:https://www.norosion.com/productpage.htm

Their No-Rosion product when used with purified water, prevent electrolysis damage. They recommend a cleaner first that will de-rust the block and etch the cast iron, but leave br*** and aluminum alone.

Living in the northeast, I need to drain my system due to an unheated garage. I know it works for the water comes out exactly like it went in. No rust, gunk, etc. I've swap aluminum heads in the two years of using it and there is zero signs of electrolysis.

Get out their site and read their tech. info page. Very informative. Highly recommended.

Any particular reason not to simply run good old green antifreeze mix in the engines?
