For me, the Chavic 32 - it’s just old timey looking, that old Indy/circle track car vibe, and with a blown flathead. I love the look of them all but this one is just more of a gr*** roots “back in the day” type of 32 ……

That someone would be Stanley. He said it drives real smooth at 80 mph, and he would be driving it after the show, including at Mirage.

That Fairleigh 33 is quite impressive. And yes, the side mirrors are the door handles. One of the shop guys designed and built the owner inspired side mirror door handle and latch.

Highlander I believe he’s talking about the yellow roadster which does have the weird one of two heads. The blue roadster does have the motor you’ve pictured

@Bandit Billy id hold off judgment til you see more photos. I have found that with out fail the first and especially the “official” photos always make **** look wonky. I don’t know why but they always make something look weirdly proportioned or weird.

maybe it’s a photographer from a totaly different field? Maybe it’s a weird lense combination. But dang every ****ing year I’m like wtf is that?!? And then it turns out to be a weird photo almost every time.

All the questions about side windows are a moot point without even seeing pictures. One of the basic rules of the compe***ion is the car cannot have roll up side windows to compete for the AMBR so nothing that has been accepted to compete for the award will have them.

I looked at all of them yesterday. As always the fit and finish plus the special things each builder does makes these cars works of art to be admired by the general car guy and other expert builders. What is the “best” will alway be in the eyes of the beholder and the judges. I am not a lover of the low slung style but can still appreciate it. We shall know the judge’s opinion later today!

Here is a super cool video of build picture of the Chavik car. The work that goes into these cars is stunning.

  14. I wonder if the retractable top on the speed 33 will hurt it's judging? I have watched some video and looked at pics. Without being there and absorbing all of the details, I have a soft spot for early 60's vibe so the Blue Ribbon would be my pick. Most have very impressive "everything". :)

After watching the Chavik video there can only be 1 winner. Amazing that one person, not a shop has this much talent. Gets my vote. MantuaJohn

I've already atoned for my sin. Was I supposed to actually video myself getting flogged with a door cat whisker for an error? Asking for a friend, but what sorta friend wants to flog you with a cat whisker...

  20. I watched the Chavik video. For those that build and make parts on their cars, you completely understand. Once again I will state that the defining part for many of us is to not have the design element that some do. Many of us weld, machine and paint. But to not have the vision that is exceptional is what makes the difference. His car is great. I'm waiting for results to see what direction the AMBR is headed. :)

I did a walk around video of each car today, will share them here later. (I'm still at the show, just taking a break)

  23. The odds in each case are pretty much 50/50. You could argue which is better than the other till your voice gets raspy but in the end it’s all up to the judges.

With all that is going on, in and around that build the one thing that still has my attention is the original Henry Ford frame WITH the original K member.
