Sumpin' real old- time about the Pillado car. King Bees please. Magic looking bunch, Some real nice cars. That Boss powered '34 is trick. Looked awesome on Mike Frankovich's YT footage.
Happy to see the Nicole Baird/Squeeg car take the win, that one was my favorite, although I did like most of the others as well. Still a deserving winner.
Was hoping it would win but I do agree with the comment about mis-matched white wall width and the intake looking a wee bit out of place. Am I missing something as I’ve looked and looked but I don’t see any scallops on the car...?
I have been paying almost no attention to this whole deal since I am typically not a fan of some of what wins. However, the car that did win at least says "traditional hot rod" to me and is also something like Anthony would say "I'd drive it". Beautiful car! Pretty dang cool to see a traditionally-styled car with an injected nailhead win!
The field for AMBR was strong this year. Though there was only nine cars, the quality was top-notch. My shop, Gray's Garage Hot Rods in Sanford, Michigan, built the Todd Samson roadster. We we're honored to part of the field. The initial photos were taken in terrible lighting. Here are some better pictures.
@daddy_o's_diner That is a very, very nice car. I agree that the top was better than some of the compe***ion. It is very cohesive in style and finish as well, something that I noticed on a couple others. For me, the color was too subdued. Is that a stock early Ford color? Black will show perfection but is hard to photograph. A light color will show body lines and gaps. The pics show good crisp reflection, but it's a (forgive me) mud mirror. I know that show cars are painted depending on if it's planned for indoor or outdoor. It might be more pleasing in the sun.
Thanks. This car was not built to show, it was built to satisfy my customer. I knew my choice of color would not suit everyones tastes. But, yes the car does look better outside in natural light. ✌️
And bottom line is that is what you are in business for and colour is a very subjective personal thing. I for one would love to see some build pics if you have them. To me they are more interesting than the finished car.
@daddy_o's_diner thank you for taking the comment as intended, a personal opinion not a negative. I hesitated even posting, but since it was brought up, thought I could explain why I didn't put your great efforts at the top. The drivetrain is top notch, the craftsmanship can't be faulted. You gotta please the customer! It's not my money paying the bills! If you are willing, I'd love to see more of the build, too.
Satisfying to see the AMBR trending back to where it belongs over the past 10-15 years. Great winner. Congrats @Squeegs HRC
I would love to see more pics of the car in the light and more of the build too. I for one love the colour. Thank goodness it's not another straight black car
Agreed. In one picture I saw, I thought it was black. When I saw the true color, I was very pleased to see. Excellent color with the black accents.
Dumb question, on the winning car it looks like the blue was painted first and the white painted on top. On this car, is it still body colour first then black? Either way, the masking of that bodyline at the rear looks like fun.
A very nice car and well deserved kudos to all involved.. That being said, my favorite hot rods are primary colors-like my kindergarten Crayola pack of eight
Agreed. It really has a ton of detail like all the entrants, but the overall theme is so consistent and well, Beautiful.
