I got the opportunity to hang out with Sid and watch the process of heat dropping a straight axle! There was a lot more to it than just heating it and pushing it where you want!! Check out my video! Sid is a top notch dude!!

Cool! I’ll have to watch it although have watched in person a time or twenty before. :D Looks like Dayton in the preview pic. I was just hanging out over there this evening.

Fun to watch, thanks for that. Back in about 2017 or so, I dropped off a few axles at okie Joes on my way to Chickasha swap. At that time, Joe had a nice 32 roadster body laying on its side, in the dirt in a lean to off the side of the shed, and a really nice 32 3w in the shed that had been parked for some repair about 20 years ago! My brain went blank on how someone could have the two top tiers of hot rodding old Fords just taking up space.

That was cool, thanks for sharing. I need to drop a 47, think I'll get ahold of Sid and talk to him about it.

Had my 40 front axle dropped by Sid's last year. The whole process went smooth as silk.

By the way, I could be biased since Sid is a great friend... But, you won't find someone that will go out of his way to help you more than he will. :)

I added it to my save and watch later list. Looking forward to watching it. I’ve never seen an axle being dropped.

Thanks for sharing. Have read his name mentioned alot here and always good to see how he actually does it and hear some if the tips and tricks that go into dropping an axle.
Do have to say if he lived next door to me, I would be rigging up some duct work so he could share some of that heat.
His heating bills cant be much, but I bet the A/C ones make up for it.

Thank you for posting that video. I always enjoy watching skilled craftsmen at work. Learned a few things too. Just good down to earth folks doing the hot rod community a great service.

Thanks for the video. Nice precision work on watching the measurements. The last axle I had dropped (not from Sid) the camber was positive on one side and negative on the other, and there was more caster on one side than the other.

Very nice! It's amazing what goes into a dropped axle. A lot of knowledge of blacksmithing, geometry, metallurgy, and art!

Fascinating! So is this a recent video? I thought Sid quit doing axles?
