I asked / recommended a mechanical gauge to verify psi , do not know if you can over Pressure a E gauge ? & then read Wrong ,
I read Oil pump was changed after over 100 psi oil & oil leaking out of covers ,, & so cold pump still can still pump pan dry before drain back ..
    Cold syrup Vs warm ,,
    New low use VR1 style oil very tacky cold @ 40 F @ pan ,,, none S ...
I heard of racers on Ponchos back in
60s 70s packing push rods with cotton or steel wool to slow oil flow .
High psi different then High presser .
Me since it had oil over filling valve covers , I would more likely be cutting the New filter Open & be taking a look
    for metal / bearing.
& Yes not big enough air ventilation can cause drain back issues ...
    On external oil pumps Chrysler,
I know guys that after oilfilter change
Removal Sweet a little @ start up because filter can air lock ,loose prime @
    filter & pump.
Just to mention ventilation same with mechanical injection, Ventilation size matters at the tank Vs which size fuel pump you use
