$25 for a roll of indoor/outdoor carpet from Home Depot and $15 for a can of spray adhesive. Now I can lay stuff in there without scratching the paint. 1/8" hardboard to cover the void....... Battery side...... Made a removable spare tire well cover. Mounted a fire extinguisher inside and lots of room for a tool bag and other essentials......
How did you mold the carpet into the spare tire well without it just being a sack of wrinkles? I've used I/O carpet before and I've never been able to get it to lay out that well without cutting and sewing. Yours looks like it was perfectly molded to fit, that's impressive.
Templates and sharp razor blades. This is the stuff I used...... https://www.homedepot.com/p/Traffic...ndoor-Outdoor-Area-Rug-CP45N41PJ1VH/202800194
Good job. I did mine on a couple of cars but because of the noise of the muffs (not good inside) decided to heavily insulate the last one-used the stuff with a foil backing and some form of 1/2" or so insulation on the other side, even went into the wheel well with it. Really made a difference, killed and muffed a lot of the noise I had. Just fyi.
The spare tire well can also serve as a beer cooler. Just add ice and the drain hole takes care of it as it melts.
I'm still working my way to being bored. Should have all my projects done by about 90 years old or so.
