I am looking to purchase an Edelbrock carb. I was thinking of buying it from them. All the big places selling them offer the same deal. How is their customer service? I have never bought from them before.

Why not buy it direct from edelbrock? Speedway is the walmart of our hobby - they take american made ideas/products and knock them off in China - not great for America or our hobby

Look elsewhere. There are plenty of small speed shops/dealers that would appreciate your business.

Bought a couple of Holleys off Amazon. No problem. Not to knock Speedway. A good portion of my car was ordered through them.

I’ve had good luck with Speedway, also Summit and Jegs.
I would love to buy from a local but there aren’t any that I know of around me. I miss the local speedshops.

Same here, all the great local speed shops I had around me are long gone. Summit, Speedway all good, have been their customer for 30 years.

If you ever get the chance to visit Speedway in Lincoln, NE, try to talk your way into a machine shop tour. They have a very impressive facility full of laser cutters, robotic welders, and high end CNC’s. No doubt much of what they offer is made overseas, but they produce far more than you realize in house.

Open Drive conversions, transmission adapters, pedals, etc - countless products individuals and companies invested in developing - speedway offers to "distribute" said products - when something sells in volume, they make it available in "their brand" for a few bucks less.......yes, I get that's business - but don't try to make it out like they're doing the hobby a favor - The core of our hobby is the "handshake" atmosphere - companies like speedway buy up all the fun and sell it back to us - I try to go to the source, or fabricate my own **** whenever I can

I've had good luck with Speedway, when I've had a problem they have been very fair in taking care of the issue. I'm lucky in that I am only a little more than an hour from their facility and I too would suggest that if you get the chance be sure to tour the museum.

That "core"of which you speak is virtually gone. Wish it weren't bu is is. Read through a lot of threads and there are way more complaints of small shops taking money with no contact or product than kudos and recommendations.
Internet ordering is chancy and Speedway and Summit, etc are far more reliable and prompt.

My experience has been way different - buying and selling - I show up with cash, shoot the ****, get the parts I need and make a new friend - I've done plenty of buying and selling through the cl***ifieds here too - yet to be burned

I just called Speedway Customer Service Support the other day. Had an issue with a bad spring in my Bendix Brake Kit. Folks are super nice, and willing to help. Only issue is they for some reason do not sell the parts individually, so they want me to return the whole kit (two backing plates, two pairs of shoes, etc.) which is already ***embled. Even one of techs said it made no sense. So, no questions asked really, no h***le from the folks I spoke with, but is/will be a h***le to dis***emble and pack it all back up (threw boxes away of course), and then bring it across the border to ship back. I can buy what looks like the small parts kit with all the springs on eBay for CAN$23.

Wait a second that looks like my feedback on eBay :D

But seriously I have had great results buying from them and will continue using them.

Speed shop's here scarce now here .
The one I do deal with will match prices of Summit..
Speed shops here used to get a delivery every other day no longer this way once a week.
for Years when National Dragster weekly was the Bible of speed parts
    80's mid 90's .
I dealt with manufacturers directly but once Holley took over ended Direct purchase from the manufacturer..
Speedway , been dealing with them since the 80s from dirt to Hot Rod only had a few issues, always taken care of except for one time and it was on a custom built third member

I used to see Speedy Bill walking around all the Midwest swap meets carrying a bunch of old junk just like the rest of us. Neat old dude.

Speedway has stuff that you can not get at other places and they have stuff they have made or make them selves . They provide a service that many here need like it or not .

Unless you plan on walking swap meets for 30 years like I have to get a certain part they are often the way to go. If they folded up then many here would be crying about the stuff on Amazon or Ebay and who we should have supported Speedway . Many here seem to forget the sell a ton of race car circle track stock car type stuff as well as muscle car and truck stuff and there not just street rod and hot rod stuff .

If a guy wants to build a inexpensive T bucket type car and is not going HAMB type traditional and just want to build something fun and nice with some prefab suspension they have a lot of options. A guy can build a cool street rod like a Fibergl*** 23 or 27 for not a lot and have it all fit well and not need to be a master fabricator to get it done It might not be HAMB material but it can be a cool street rod type car .

My fibergl*** 27 T roadster project is from a old Speedway kit I bought unfinished and I'm glad they sold that type of stuff and that they still do .
I'm not going to ***** some of there stuff is a copy or made over seas if its OK quality . What I do like is if I need a tie rod or drag link I can have them make me one the size I need for not a lot and have it in a few days or if I want to see 5 different brake kit options for my spindles or lug pattern its there see what you need.

These days Speedway is sometimes the more expensive option .
When Amazon had a SBC crossmember engine mount with cross member transmission mount and all three rubber mounts and the hardware for $80 the $300 speedway option is a tough sell . It will be fine for the T bucket project I doing for a neighbors kid . actually looks pretty nice.
I just bought that $80 Amazon kit and its about identical to the speed way one I got last year . I may buy a $135 Amazon adjustable 4 link drag race type rear suspension kit from them for a non HAM project from the same Amazon vendor. Ill use chap **** on a cheap project like my 49 Willy sPU that is not worth $3000 done . With out the cheap stuff id likely never get it done either .
Speedway has place for sure .

For a Edelbrock carb It hit Summit , Jegs , Compe***ion Products , or even Amazon first if the price was cheaper and its a authentic . If your a first time buyer at speedway and you sign up for there membership or advertising thing I think you get a decent discount on the first purchase ? Seems like I got a deal for starting an account there years back .

I MISS THERE CATALOG THAT WAS FREE!!!!!
Was a good way to get ideas see what was available and figure out things like brakes and suspension. I still look at my old ones from time to time .

I buy a new Holley first but that's just me and another topic . I have Edelbrock's on a few cars and they run great with about 4.5 PSO or so pressure . I think there ugly but it runs good and it was on it when I got it so for now it stays . I may run twin Edelbrock 500's on my Hemi until I find a good set of matching Carters or something more fitting for the era of vehicle and build .
    ( IF I ever find a decent intake I can afford )

Take the Speedway ad over to S&K on 109 and they will match it or beat it.

Bill Smith, The original founder of Speedway Motors, was a p***ionate Hot Rodder, supplying hot rod parts for many decades,... When you talk "Traditional Hot Rods" Speedway has been there from almost the beginning. There are few places that have been around as long as Speedway. To some degree they are as traditional as the cars we build.

I would recommend reading the history of the company, and touring the museum Bill Smith am***ed (***uming it's still operational). I have dealt with Speedway for a very long time, And sure there have been a few bumps in the road,.. Just like every other place you deal with for decades.

I guess, we've seen things like Moon, Honest Charlie, So-Cal etc. "brought back to life in name only"... So my thought is, The service is great, the prices are great, (or comparable) And they're a standing ins***ution over many decades providing services and products for the real Hot Rod community.

Can I get it for a few buck cheaper from Amazon,.... possibly. But are you supporting someone that has been there with us for longer then some of you have been alive ?... Or a guy that could care less about Hot Rodders, if he can turn a profit, And be on to selling some other totally unrelated item next month, just to make a buck ?

I'm sure some of you will disagree with me,.. But for me, even those "bumps in the road" went toward building a relationship that reaches back over 40 years in my personal experience.. But for the most part, I have always been happy with my experiences dealing with Speedway.

Speedway does offer a huge selection of stuff, has to compete to survive and has burned some innovators over the years. They stock high end stuff and knock off junk. All true. They don't seem to be as cutthroat as Holley and do offer good pre- and post sale service.

I've had nothing but great customer service with Speedway Motors, regardless of the negative anti Speedway talk.

My only problem with ordering something from Speedway is probably kinda universal for online parts. How to know when you're ordering really low quality stuff from them. Lord knows they got some up there.

Ordering parts can be pretty easy really, the problem is what happens if something is wrong with the new part you just ordered?
These days, the chances of getting defective new parts is higher then probably any time in our past.

I believe you still stand a better chance at a good outcome if the new parts came from places like Speedway or Summit, then you do from most of the other outlets.
