Beck Intake

good morning, I’m hoping somebody can help me. I’m a pretty big intake collector, and I ran into something unique.

I believe the intake below is a Beck. Very early maybe dry lakes. Speedway has one, but they’ve never seen the risers before. they are very interested in getting their hands on this any help identifying or possibly what it’s worth.

 

2 Winfields bases with 3 bolt adapters possibly home made?

 

I'm no help and obviously there are many differences but it reminds me the ORD manifolds.

Cool! I've seen some Beck motorcycle parts, clothing and some car parts, but never seen a Beck intake. Need one since it's my last name.LOL! Good find!

 

I never saw one of those, either. Is the carb base just a flat plate on a round tube, or is there two separate throats going down the center? It kinda looks like two. I wonder at what point do they converge. That is an odd and interesting unit.

 

Yes that definitely is a Beck flathead intake manifold. The Beck Bros. ran the California dry lakes pre war. I have a Beck intake manifold as well. The Beck name is cast into the intake between the two risers in a semi circle and the carb risers are not as tall but cast right into the intake on mine. Carb risers are dilled for the Winfield four bolt carbs on mine as well.

Your intake is slightly different than mine. I don't see a name embossed on it anywhere and there is a small bridge up by the generator mount whereas mine does not have that small bridge. The Beck intake I have and the one you have look to be from two different casting runs. The carb risers are quite unique on yours as well. Very, very rare intake. I would think there may be a handful of these Beck intakes that would still exist today. If I were you I would hang onto that intake as you won't find another. I would value that Beck intake you have at $3000.00.

 

Winfields require about 7” center distance to clear one another, flanges on this manifold look to be too close together to actually run Winfields. My guess is 97’s up high to clear the genny, and 4 bolt flanges down low for strength
