    1950 GMC/Chevy panel van RAKE

    Hello,

In 1982, we were a young couple with a small toddler. Our neighbors asked us if their older son and our son could have a sleep over with a local teenage baby sitter. The object was to be one of the first ones to see the scary Friday the 13th movie. My wife and I are not “Horror” movie fans, but to keep up the neighborhood friends mode, we agreed to go with them to the movies.

So, we went in the theater with other “horror movie” fans and were jumping back in our seats at almost every dark scene and instant change to something gristly. Not a good moment for us. But, we kept up the friendship with the neighbors for 25 plus years and that was fine. The movie was not fine…

We did not want a larger panel van for our beach adventures, either…Yikes! We need a station wagon with lots of windows…

But, as I was drawing my version of a 1950 GMC/Chevy panel truck for a surf mural/flames combination, a hockey mask was in movie scene we were watching that evening. It instantly, it gave me the chills. So, to work it out of my brain, I changed the scallops to a dark theme, including a hockey mask. Yes, the flames were supposed to be "water drop" flames, but ended up being a moving, red blood drop flames...Yikes !!!

The store was a supply house located somewhere in So Cal where hockey is being played…like the Anaheim Ducks Hockey Team. So, I told myself as the changes were made. In my mind, and on my laptop, drawing the art took the darken room scare tactics away for awhile… YRMV

    Note:
There was a “Wolf Moon” in the dark skies for a few days, too. And the little pack of neighborhood coyotes were going a little crazy with their gatherings and “howling.” Suburban living at its finest… ha!
