I got some brake lines for AN fittings that were the wrong size. Called Speedway and they sent the correct ones priority mail and told me to take the incorrect ones to a swap meet! Last time I was there for a Speedster Reunion, saw the six CNC machines that run continuously as well as the skunk works where the test and try out new products.

Performance Motor Sports is a local speed shop in Whitelaw Wisconsin, they carry mostly stock car racer inventory, but will order anything you need, about once-a-week they have an order of parts coming in from Speedway Motors, ac***ulating larger orders - results in free shipping :)
On the larger items I have saved a lot of money on shipping. ;)

I just got a 4 inch dropped axle from speedway. I would say the quality looks very good.

No issues with Speedway. No issues with Jeg's or Summit either for that matter.

Honestly, Amazon has been a great resource as well. When I was building my Olds and trying to get it done on a deadline, having Prime shipping was clutch to keep my project moving.

As an FYI, my brand new AVS2 Edelbrock carbs didn't run for **** and needed a decent amount of tuning by Mark Spencer to get to run well. They're good to go now, but it was a big difference from the Holley that I bought and slapped on the engine out of the box and it ran perfectly for 20 years.

I have ordered from Speedway quite a bit.
Only 2 occasions where I had an issue and they took care of issue right away.
My experience has been the same from Summit.

In truth unless you order it from the Ebay seller you may as well down to the Local Oreilly's and get it . The price is pretty will going to be Edelbrocks list price unless you have a commercial account or can wangle a buddy deal. Plus you save about 30 bucks for shippng from most of the popular online vendors. 9. How is it possible that Speedway business is 50% Oval track and 50% Hot Rod but yet is only the hot rod (street car) how complain or even seem to have issues with them?

It seems odd to me that a side of the hobby that is spending multiple thousands of dollars to build a car than thousands more just to maintain and compete on a week after week every summer under hard breaking, acceleration, cornering (heavy G-Forces) has little to no trouble with them.

Yet a side that build a car once that simply has to up and down the at 55 to 65 MPH has trouble?

Very strange, makes me wonder if the trouble may be with a certain section of the hobby or more accuracy a certain section of people within that segment of the hobby.

Difference in expectations formed by experience?

During my 20+ years of racing, I learned it was unreasonable to expect a manufacturer to build a part to fit my unique car. I had to make the car fit the parts I chose.

So after retiring and going into hot rods, I knew better than to think something would bolt right onto my unique '34, even though Speedway said it "fit 1934 Fords".

Been doing business with Speedway for close to 30 years. Have I had to return things? Yes. Have I ever had an "issue"? No.

I have purchased from Speedway motors for many years, customer service has always been great . They even kept me updated on backordered items during covid and shipped promptly when the items were back in stock. I have had several problems with Edelbrock customer service, I don't purchase directly through them anymore. Speedway will handle a warranty claim if you have a problem with a carburetor but you will have to file a claim within 30 days. After 30 days you will have go through Edelbrock.

Is that a fact? I wander into S&K every few months and I’m always disappointed that the prices aren’t listed. Then at the checkout I get sticker shock! I’ll have to bring a Speedway catalog next time.

  15. I've been bashed on here for my speedway (and Amazon parts lol) parts on my 53. But have yet to have an issue out of any of them. And had I waited til I found original parts or "paid a few bucks more"(sometimes actually hundreds more" my 53 would likely still be a non running derelict in the back yard awaiting parts instead of me having taken it on a cruise earlier. And customer service is great

I did that with a Summit catalog in 2015 when I was building my 355. Check to see what their current policy is.

I have used speedway for years. I bought an Edelbrock slingshot manifold and Edelbrock had missed machinig a flat at the base. I did not have the tooling to do it myself. speedway arranged for me to send it to Edelbrock priority and I had it back in about a week.

Never had a problem with them, always helpful on the phone or in person. If you ever have a chance to see the museum it is amazing.

Your local NAPA store probably has it in stock. Electric choke 600cfm #735-3556 and manual choke #735-3555

It's funny, several commenters complain about parts being made offshore, but yet a large number of comments focus on PRICE. If you use price as a main deciding factor for your purchase, you need to expect the retailers will make decisions on where to get parts made based on that.

Sometimes I buy based on price, sometimes I buy based on quality, sometimes I buy based on nostalgia or a certain feeling.

For those complaining that Speedway is like Walmart, consider that consumer buying decisions choose where money gets placed by the manufacturer. I occasionally buy from Speedway. I most often buy from Summit due to availability, free or low-cost shipping to Canada, and good customer support. The best customer experience I've had on hot rod parts was with Roadster Supply.

Buying a straight axle front end from our local hot rod parts house left a bad taste in my mouth. I try to support our local speed shops but find they often don't have what I need in stock, which means it's often a waste of 2 hours to make the special trip across town and peruse the store.

No speed shops close to me. I use Speedway and a lot of other vendors. I shop around online trying to get the best deal and get it asap when I need the parts.

I read this when it was first put up-14 years ago. There's no question that big companies, often unfairly, exploit small businesses. I, too, detest that. But, what's changed is the speed shop landscape. My local shops are long gone. So is my local NAPA. Speedway is like Walmart-often the only game in town. I'd prefer to buy local or small guy. But how many threads are there on the HAMB decrying money sent with no product, emails sent with no response, poor quality with the product received and the cost of shipping.. Speedway has a wide product selection, most of it is pretty good quality-as much as anything else these days, they answer their emails, ship on time and take care of problems. Not perfect but pretty good. I'll still shop there when I need to. Welcome to 2026..

It looks as though they stole the intellectual property of their own vendors. That is not clever. It is not s****py. It is not hustle. It is theft.

There is no gray area there. No clever spin. No excuse about market forces or opportunity. It is inexcusable under any cir***stance, especially when it is aimed at the very people who helped build the ecosystem in the first place.

    To me, it's gross...

Are they still doing it? I dunno... It's been years since a vendor has approached me, but I'm not nearly as visible as I used to be.

I am some one that dealt with manufacturers directly when
National Dragster was the Bible of speed parts ,, Between Summit & Jegs
I prefer Summit Now since Jeg's under new ownership ,, Performance plus good also , Chad & Doug Herbert was good also
Not quite the same for hard core parts warehouse like it was ,
