I did not look on ebay, but if they have an opening bid near the buy it now price it is a scam. It says to email them before bidding, the return mail says that the cars are in some other country, and they want you to send money.

From what other members have said, they steal other peoples accounts to run their scams.

Yup, if you get any of the scam emails asking you to "re-register" or "confirm your account numbers" and you are stupid enough to log in with your ebay name and password, they hijack your account, change your password, run some scam auctions and hope you don't check your status on ebay that often, so they can finish a few scams. The sad thing is, I have read on ebay discussion boards of people discovering their account had been hijacked and even though they email ebay to notify them, it STILL sometimes takes a few days (and even up to a week) before ebay takes action and ends the auction.

I noticed both cars were the same layout but different sellers, sellers location was changed to "e-mail me" & both auction start & end times were within minutes of eachother & only running for short periods of time.
Even if they get away with a deposit some poor unsuspecting
punter will get hurt........the more people know this goes on the better.

E-BAY has tons of scams , One i have seen ,is the sellers having shill bidders to bump the prices . I hade one guy do this to me , then his so called high bidder backs out.He mails me and ask s if i want it now for the bid price .Intantly bumping the bid price through ghost or sellers pals .I have only had 2 ,where i sent the money and nothing was sent , i am sure that happens alot . Main gripe is e-bay has no teeth or balls to back up any of thier rules , i was out 40 bucks all they said was give him neg feedback .On the selling side how do you give out tons of requests for shipping ? I just tell them actual winner pays actual shipping costs .Otherwise your e-mailing 20 people a day to tell them shipping and who knows if they even bid or not .ok off my soapbox now .
I do gotta say e-bay is great to clean out the house and bank some extra hot rod money .

I've just been looking at collectors cars in general & it seems there are dozens of those crazy cheap buy it now deals, looks like they are all set up by the same person using different sellers names.
I e-mailed the seller & asked if he made a mistake on the price as he was selling a '59 Vette fully restored for $8.300
the listing ended yesterday & this was the reply from him today:
Hello and thank you for contacting me
I will tell you a few words about the car..
First of all the car is fully restored and looks just like in the pictures. It is in imaculate condition and has no schrach on and hasn't been involved in any accident.
The motor runs very well. This is a clasic car that has a lot of the original parts and thr tires are almost new.
The title is clear ,it is not a salvage one.
The car belongs to my brother. He died two weeks ago in a bike accident.
The car is now in The Netherlands as my brother lived there.I am now here as i took care of the funerals.
Because i can't carry all his things back home i am selling them.
I am willing to sell it and shipp it to any of the UE countries or to US.I will not ship to any African,Asian or Eastern European countries.
I know that the price is low but i have no use for the car and I want to get back home as soon as i sell it.
I want to sell the car asap so I am willing to pay 25% of the shipping fees nomatter of the location.
I require a deposit of 3000USD.The money is a reservation for the car.First one who makes the deposit will be the buyer.I need the deposit to be sure that you want the car and in order to proceed with shipping and all the aditional export taxes.
I wait your further questions and i will provide any infos you need.
    Thank you
    Regards Harold Danovsky

sorry to go on but it really pisses me off!

  12. You guys should just make a "DON"T BID ON THIS GUY'S PARTS LIST" you know, a list we can all check to see if a ebay username is on. Where we can check to see if the seller is an ass.

  13. abelugo , what 32 limey is talking about is a is rash of auctions with a "buy it now" with a very low price. the auctions all have different ebay user names that have been hi-jacked...all of the ebay sellers have good feedback and are victims of scams themselfs. once the scammers are in thier account, they change the password and i assume they also have access to the account holders credit card and bank info... no way to put them on a list because new listings just keep popping up

this is serious stuff and EBAY needs to get a handle on it. we as ebay users need to inform everyone we know about this scam......TELL EVERYBODY YOU KNOW WHO USES EBAY THAT IF THEY GET A EMAIL (looking like it came from ebay, but it's not!) ASKING TO VERIFY THEIR INFO THAT IT"S A SCAM....DON"T CLICK ON ANY LINK IN THE EMAIL.....the only way to verify or change your info on ebay is to go to ebay's website and sign in

i have two accounts at ebay, one real one i use and one with with an free email....i use that one to mess with jerks like these scammers. i have been having a lot of fun with these guys...asking for more pictures, asking for the location of the car so i can send someone to look at it,telling them i have the cash here and can send it western union.....i have even asked for their bank info so i can wire the money!
