Please don't use steel wool on chrome! It actually scratches it. Tiny little scratches, which give more places for rust to start. I understand using it on rusty chrome wheels and ****py bumpers but not on nice shiny new chrome!

IMG_6132.jpeg IMG_5514.jpeg Actually, the grill is old and rusty and pitted. I just made it look good with wire wheel cleaner
000 wool McGuire‘s wire wheel cleaner it’s like naval jelly kind of

it’s hard to see here, but it was dirty, and pitted,
And welded where it cracked in half.
I sanded, polished, and buffed the raw metal to look like chrome there, and cleaned, acid treated, the small rusticals, and , and scrubbed the fins, to make it look like now.
I wouldn’t use wool on new chrome.

    Thanks, Dave!
Yeah, I have a lot of polishing experience. I used to polish all the aluminum wheels for my dad when I was growing up all the old old mags and slots and torque thrust in my own wheels and tires. Chrome is so expensive!
I got a quote at like 2500 to 4500 depending on how much I wanted it polished if I got it Chromed ! I said screw that noise. I’ll just make it look good from 10 feet away. Well it looks good at 3 feet away so I exceeded my expectations. The headlights are a little rough with pits, but they shine enough in the sun so you don’t notice them lol!

I got lucky with the windshield frame. My dad bought it years ago from Drake before they discontinued Them.
Just a raw one now if you can find it is like 600 bucks!
The door handles are stainless, And my 37 Bumper ends are old Drake stuff too. I found on eBay.

IMG_6158.jpeg IMG_6159.jpeg IMG_6160.jpeg Well, it looks like my new front shocks are doing the job. Looks like I got still an inch or so of travel before it bottoms out you could see the little line of dirt or whatever the hell it is.
So I don’t need lower shock mounts at this point.
Geez one short little trip in the rain got this thing all dirty underneath!!!
    oh well, it’s a driver!
except for my top leaked like a sieve that ****ed every time I stopped at a stoplight. It would come pouring down on my leg!! this is definitely a fair weather car unless I wear a rain jacket!
but I don’t want the cotton to get all moldy in the new top. I made!

well, I got another little small thing done that I’ve been trying to get for a while. Got the steering wheel. Finally straighten those turn signals to cancel in the middle.!
That was a pain in the ****!!
Also hooked up the horn wires and everything so all I need is a horn now, but the solenoid is clicking so that’s good!
    A little at a time I’m a little at a time.
I know not exciting stuff, but it is for me!! IMG_6161.jpeg

You guys are gonna think I’m a total goober!!!
I don’t know if I showed you guys my tattoos before, but I’m a total Looney Tunes and Peanuts freak!!!
So now that I got the horn circuit working and all ready to go I’m gonna save a little bit of money and I’m gonna buy an original type roadrunner horn for the 33! Because the original ones That went next to the headlights, kinda actually sound like that, but I don’t like the way they look so I’m gonna get An official licensed roadrunner horn!!! MEEEP MEEEEP!
It’ll go perfect with my custom-made Wiley coyote Flathead Tattoo!!!

I heard a 39 Plymouth or dodge and they weren't those long ones just curled about 7" in diameter and they sounded nice....and loud with authority...I'd imagine any vintage Caddy would sound like a very nice get the hell outta my way too. My meeper makes me laugh I'll give it that!
This guy had a 12 volt battery on 6 volt horns and yeah I need it. Don't think it would've changed the woman pulling out in front of me though...to friggen close to get my hand on the horn...

    Thanks Stogy!
Rudy is having issues, the base plate, lock thing, is to rusted, to stay on the radiator.
And the after market, br***, repair kits, just bend and warp when you attach it to the bottom. I think I might fabricate one out of stainless, pipe, and weld some ***s on it to grab the radiator neck better.

I worked for a Dodge dealer in the late 70's when Chrysler was in financial difficulties. One of the things they did was clean out the parts wharehouses and offer excess or obsolete inventory to dealers as bargain ba*****t prices. I think the roadrunner horns were about $2.00. Every young guy at the dealership had a roadrunner horn on his car.

An original used crusty ones like $250 The reproduction is 100 so I’m gonna get that! But I like Looney Tunes! Of course, my dream car would be a 68 plum crazy GTX Or a Plymouth roadrunner!
Well today, I was also looking at a bullit clone that would be awesome too!!!
    But at $189,000 I think no….

@33Doll if you wanna see exactly how much the shocks are traveling, just put a zip tie around the shaft at the body of the shock and it will push it to the highest travel.

    Meeep Meeep!

Hey Dave I just realized after you said that,
These new shocks have a built in travel guide.
    DER!
I just slide that plastic donut down before I go somewhere, then look at it when I get back!
I thought it look a little flimsy for a bump stop!

Here’s a few nice poser shots after detailing today.
sun popped out in the afternoon so I couldn’t resist!! Getting ready for a car and coffee at my church next Saturday.
They had 500 cars last month couldn’t believe it!
Taking a 18-year-old kid that we hired at My work. Trying get him interested in this stuff!
He’s a great kid so far! Hard worker! Knows how to weld, grew up on a farm ranch . He was definitely born in the wrong era. He should’ve been born in our era.

    Hey Dave.
Heres the stuff I used in my pitted chrome,
    And the Flitz
Works on everything! It was that magic polish at the fair years ago, where they polished aluminum cans and everything that stuff actually works. I’ve been using it for years.!
    It’ll make anything look good!!!
you can see how ****py my headlights are up close the grill isn’t that bad but that stuff makes it shine so much!

I love it! My style of hot rod. I'll have to try that polish on my ****py chrome BLC 904 A headlights on my '33 Plymouth.

Yeah, luckily the pitted headlights are towards the grill mostly. She’s definitely a 5 to 10 footer car!
