  7. And the Tiki head in the background is PERFECT. Hey wait, that looks like the Monogram model kit of the "Black Widow". I built that kit back in what 1959-1960. Wait, wait, do I hear Ed Burns over there behind the camera ?

There were two kits that sold at the same time. The Black Widow which was the chopped T pickup and the Green Hornet that was a 26-27 T roadster. Naturally painted black and green. Some place I still have those model kits after what 65 years. Never throw away anything.

Also found the original bill of sale for my first car in July 1965. Says one Model A Ford for $78 including sales tax. I was 13 years old. Will post that bill of sale later.

    Kool !

@Royalshifter what is the history of your T? Originally built by axle? and if so, when? Did you buy it off axle?
Details of the running gear, engine, trans, rear axle etc plus any interesting bits. Thanks.

    Congrats Mark {@Royalshifter} & Kelly {@ladyshifter} Skipper!

Back in August, I was talking with Darryl {@hollenbeck32} & Terri {@Born a HotRodGal} Hollenbeck at the Goodguys West Coast Nats in Pleasanton . . . During one of our conversations, they mentioned they might be selling the T . . . and asked me if I knew anyone that might be interested . . . I think it was I (or maybe it was Terri) that "half-joked" about how great it would be if the Skipper's "would buy it back" . . . I'm so glad that it ended up back in your garage!

Here's a few pics of the T during its time with the Hollenbeck's:

New Low Mile 265 for the T (via Cory Taulbert).jpg
Cory {@CTaulbert} Taulbert sourced a (low-mileage) 265ci SBC to replaced the T's engine

I traded back for my 48 after I sold it and bought my 51 Merc back out of a field looking like hell in 1966. Sold it when a guy offered far more for it than I thought it was worth but if I won the lotto one thing I would do is chase it down and buy it back and put it back the way I had always planed.

It's easier if you just keep it, like I did.

I was just looking through my old November '77 issue of Street Rodder and came across the article on the California Kid owned by Cris Carrier. He had the car finished to a far greater degree and later Pete bought it back. A good story of buying your car back.

What a great story! I have always regretted selling my “T”, and would love to know what happened to it. I sold it thinking I needed something with more room, bought a ‘63 T Bird that I never bonded with. Shoulda kept the “T”… 206.jpeg

I bought back my old hot rod a couple of years ago...

I'm getting pretty old and was thinking "how cool would it be if my LAST BUILD was of my FIRST hot rod" that I built in 1969 at 17 years old.

But I wasn't sure if the car still existed 50 years later.
It took a couple years of sleuthing and I finally did find it still existed (sort of) and was only about 75 miles away... and after all these years, it still had the registration/***le in MY NAME...but YIKES.

Well, I did buy it and it sits in my brother-in-law's barn. Will I ever build it before my expiration date? Probably not...but you never know...I've done dumber things,;)

My Avatar was my first car, a 33 Chevy that I sold for a1938 Ford Standard two-door. The guy who bought my Chevy totalled it on a country bridge.

Yeah, it was used as a "parts car" to restore another Chevy Coupe.

I know that you are happy to have it back. I just want you to know the impact it has had for many of us for a long time now. I'm sure you heard that way back. Maybe that memory has faded. Be ***ured it is still just like that song you loved back then and still holds a place in your heart today.
I don't know the timeline of the car, but it always caught my eye. Did you do a build thread on it?

Car was originally from Madera Ca. built in the 1960s, I bought it in 1995 from a friend after he rescued it from its garage tomb.
The car was originally blue metallic. I did a rescue build on the car and also installed the top which it never had.
Did not have a build thread it was before I joined the HAMB in 2005.
The car made a bigger impact than I expected and still is.
