Probably sitting since '75, that's the year of the TX plates anyway, and the radio works. That AM sound was pretty cool last night.
Kick ass! Nothing better than starting a new project! (well maybe finishing one, but I have never done that so I don't know how that feels )
Awright! That's a solid looking tin Indian. Just picked up a '57 Chieftan, myself. Pontiac powers, activate!
Activated on this end....congrats, Injected! That 2 door wagon is cool! I plan on getting some brake work done on my 41 Bidness coupe this weekend..
That's a baaaaaaaad mf'r Rocky. I didn't even know you had that. I gotta get in here more often. Sweet. I think I settled on the colors. A friend had a metallic mint turquois '64 GTO before the silver one he now has, one of my favorite colors. So the mint with an ivory to match. I remember seeing another green and white wagon in a video once that I fell in love with. And the engine can now be the later metallic green I dig. So it's settled.
Before ya get all squishy over those colors, lemmee scan a photo of my old 55 fordoor wagon and post it. The colors were an AMC dark green metallic and a light solid green. I sold the 55 at BTT50's 3 years ago.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmthe photo doesn't show the paint as vibrant as it really was. When the sum shone on the dark green, it would "pop". Guess ya had to be there.
And what will you do for front suspension? I'm seriously considering a sub=frame for my 41, which amazingly enough, has a frame almost identical to your 55's. BTW, my 41 doesn't look quite that cool right now. That's the photoshopped version with 35 ford wheels substituted. Let me know if you wanna get rid of the original 55 wheels from your wagon. I'm looking for a set, preferably with the 3 clips in the center for center caps. The 41 as it sits right now...
Now I'm understanding what my wife means by "you don't listen", guess I don't see so well either. Oh well, remember it had an impact. The wheels? Won't need them. 100 to much? The center caps are there and in excellent condition. I'll get a pic. And the wagon gets the front sub from this, as well as the engine, trans, and rearend. All one racing season fresh. Shame ain't it? I was going to race it this year and removed all the extra spoilers and crap. Even bought Saltflats. But then the wagon came along.
OK, you win. 50.? I was going to paint them red, and ebay them with the shiny caps. But for you? I'll get enough from the TA stuff. It will be a little bit, until I can get the subframe and rear under there. Which I am taking a break from as I speak. Well that looks like shit. The centers are all dent free and perfect. I'll get a better pic for you in the daylight.
No need for further photos, I get "the picture".. 50 is a screamin deal and I'll take 'em. Let me know when they're available and I'll buzz down there in the Rocky Goodtime van to get 'em.
....and just for the record? I had a T/A also and it was just too new.. I sold it to the kid down the street so I get to see it occasionally...I inherited it from my dad.
We are in BIG trouble. Two TA's in one post. You have to type Saint Peters. Dunno why. 63376. I'll let you know when. Now why the hell would GM put those #%&(*^% cotter pins up inside the chassis? Real question. When I loosen the steering column up does it pull back outta the steering box? Or am still looking thru the TX clay dust with a chisel and a hammer for some connection?
glad to see ya into a car, INJ-A..I need to bear down so I can make HAMB DRAAAAAGS IN somethin cool......[our restaraunt IS still open man......
[in a whiney Erkle voice} Oh man! I can't wait 'till deer season! I gotta get my wheels soon. I'll be cruisin this spring. The steering box: It should be like any other one-piece column/box from G.M.....ya gotta take the box and column out in one chunk. Well, you could take the column [mast jacket] off the box but you'll still have the looooooooong steering shaft attached to the steering box. The recommended method of removing it from the car is to unbolt the column and box as a unit and take the screws outta the access plate in the floor around the base of the column. Then pull the steering box, column, guts, feathers and all, up through he floor and into the interior of the car. If you don't care about saving the column and box in one chunk, some guys just hacksaw/torch the column off above the box and drop the box out the bottom. Then remove the column at your leisure. What-EVER! Although, I'd almost bet that steering gearbox would fit my old 41 coupe. I'd also bet it has tapered roller bearings and my 41 box has bronze bushings. A natural upgrade for my coupe-ay...wanna sell it too? Does it seem in fair shape? If you end up cutting the column off the box, do me a favor and leave about a foot of shaft sticking outa the box. Gives me enough to weld to [rag joint] without heating up the gears and shit.
Naaa, wouldn't cut anything. All makes sense now after dropping the column and the floor plate. Couldn't wait anymore. This box is super caked but super tight. 61K has done nothing to it. These wheels turn soooo smooth. The box is yours. Price? Knowing your cussing my silly ass while removing the cement that has become one with the unit. See other post for a pic. Really, you do want this. The column and wheel stays. It'll hook up to the TA's box somehow.
Do ya have a CB in the T/A, good buddy? Man I can't believe that they were the coolest cars around when I was in high school, yetch!. The raped chickens on the hoods were pretty over the top. I had though most of them had died a peacefull death long ago, '70s GM quality at it's zenith.
Rocky, if you're going to the HAMB GAS, I could run them, well, maybe Root could, he's driving. (he still thinks he's the man in our relationship) I live in Tulsa and will be in Wichita for the next two weeks. March 1-15. If they can make it to me, Root and I may be able to get them to Albuquerque. By the way, If the width of that 41 Poncho is the same as my 41 Chevy, you will need to take two inches out of that sub frame.
Hey Rocky, What methods did you use to get that wagon pictured above to sit that low?? Thats pretty damn close to what I have in mind for the Starchief. Thanks, ~Bryant
Your 55 Poncho brings back memories. My dad bought one new and as a young teen I learned that you could listen to the tunes without the keys. All I had to do was step on the brakes and the power would feed back to the fuse block and "Walla" on came the radio. I also have a 55 parts car if you need anything. The Wizzard
1lowchief...cut coils and 3" blocks. I was able to cut 3 coils because the wagon had a light little 301 Poncho in it. It never bottomed out either. It's 406 miles from my place to yours, Injected. I think that's a lot closer than Albequerke, Alburquirkee. alb..ah shit! New Mexico...but thanks anyway. I'll be down as soon as you give the word.....
Oh Pist tell me. Need the pass. side 1/4 trim from the door back, the long SOB. Also need the taillight lenses, both upper & lower in the housing. Otherwise she's all there. Need a '30/'31 Model A firewall? Maybe 3-4 weeks Rocky? But may be sooner, working out how to do the swap in my little drive right now. In fact gotta make a beer run before the help leaves.
I couldn't help but to try and post a pic of my '57 with the T/A stance up front. I wish you much success. You're going the right route in my opinion. Bil
