Featured Technical Fuel Pressure Gauges?

    What is everyone using for fuel pressure gauges for our low-PSI applications? Do most people run an inline gauge, or use a sender to a gauge on the dash? For inline applications, is there a traditional make/model of gauge that people like to seek out, and if not, what does the hive mind like as a commercially available solution that doesn't look completely out of place on our old cars?

    I’m running a 0-15 oil filed gauge, my regulator is set at 3 psi. no need to clutter up the dash, I only reference mine when working near the engine.

    This is what I’m doing in one of my street legal (mostly) track cars. It is threaded directly into one of the ports on my racor fuel filter. I have a return line and a needle valve so I can adjust the pressure. Race gas has a lower viscosity so I need to adjust this when I go from pump gas to race gas.

    I looked on the auction site and found a nice 10psi vintage gauge pretty cheap. Mechanical, placed in car (gasp).

    You can buy a Mechanical fuel pressure gauge isolator! [or make one]

    Or you can do the DIY hack method of filling the fuel pressure line with ATF then dropping a ball bearing into the hole [to keep the 2 fluids separated] the ball floats freely back and forth with pressure changes.
    If the gauge ever ruptures the ball gets pumped along the line until it seals against the gauge like a check valve.

    I agree, this is how I would be using it.

    That is a beautiful dash! I did think about running something off the column, until...

    I had not heard of these Marshall gauges before (Fender man myself), but they're inexpensive and it looks like they are still made in the USA, which is mostly what I care about. Plus, that block script looks great. I ordered one of these. Thanks!

    Same one here. Been great for 8-10 years it’s been on the car. I have mine mounted on the cowl area as per NHRA rules.

    I’m also able to isolate the gauge using a small ball valve off the pressure regulator

    Not a great pic, but I bought a SW block branded gauge. Its just 'mocked up' here. I suspect its just a 'rebranded' generic gauge, but the design matches all my other SW gauges

    Your dash looks amazing and I love the colours !

    Is that just a standard ball valve or is it a fuel resistant one ?
    Could the material in the valve break down over time causing it to leak ?
    I put one in my car a long time ago, but bought one specifically for aviation fuel, ***uming an ordinary ball valve wouldn’t last.

    I hope this is not considered a thread hijacking, but while I have the attention of gauge minded folk I would dearly like to find a Latham supercharger fuel gauge to match the vac/pressure gauge that I already have. The attached picture, that I found on the internet several years ago, is the only evidence that such a creature ever existed. A long shot I know, but hey, this is the H.A.M.B.

    Second one is mounted on the regulator on the firewall. Little hard to see, but best photo I have.

    Not a lot out there for sub 5lbs, liquid filled and traditional looking.

    I recall one in speedways race catalog years ago that could p*** at a glance. I’ll have to see if I can find a photo.

    Are some of you rebels actually running fuel lines into the cabs of your cars?
    Brave souls :eek::eek:

    This one is on temporarily until I’m satisfied with the pump pressure then it will come off and get plugged. I’m not brave enough to have any extra spots for potential leaks.

  24. I agree with this, although I do have mechanical oil pressure gauges in all my cars with copper line and never a problem.

    That gauge duo is astounding....made by Marsh...never saw one. They also made the Judson supercharger gauge, like this one I have (pic below). There are actually Marsh compound (pressure/vacuum) gauges on Ebay. Just search under "Marsh gauges" you'll find a number of variations. There are several gauge restoration companies or individuals out there that can make custom gauges faces if you can find gauges with the same sweeps & parameters. The generic Marsh gauges are cheap.
