I broke a 1/4 gl*** in a Ford Probe about 35+ years ago and it cost me over $1,100 then. I put my hand thru it when I was installing it didn’t have the line up pin properly located and when slapped with the palm of my hand to set it, it shattered into what looked like salt rocks
Sounds like it was tempered gl***. I slung a rock with a weedeater into the side window on a 89 or 90 model Ford Ranger once. I found gl*** EVERYWHERE in that truck.
Tempered gl*** was used in the corner windows of the Chevy AD pickups in the '50s. So, it is traditional.
Trevor and Saul showed up this morning and we did some wiring, and started ****oning up some stuff under the dash so I could get the firewall pad in and get the Vintage Air evaporator hung under the dash permanently. We got the windshield wipers working and had to knock off so Trevor could go get some POS plastic off topic junk. I let him borrow my trailer but he earned rights to the trailer years ago by helping me rebuild it. The wiper motor is a Newport Engineering unit with intermittent wiping and the "park" feature. Doing all the little things needed along the way. Made a bracket to hold the drier for the a/c system. Cut all the hoses to length and am headed over to see Mike at Sachse Rod Shop to get them all crimped. Then its just a matter of a little bit or wiring, oil up the o-rings, snug the lines up tight, pull a vacuum and charge the system up. Don't need the a/c at the moment but it won't be long before summer is here. I hope to drive the car to Stray Kat in May.

I used to very seldom hang out around my own stuff 'cause I was walking around looking at all the other cars. However, age is catching up with me so I sit more and more as time goes on.
Have you got Clarence fixed? I saw a while back he tried eating a trailer tire. I looked for you last year but you must have been out roaming. Hopefully I can catch up with you this year.
Trevor and Saul showed up "bright and oily" this morning and we got to work. Within a couple of hours we had 29 degree air blowing out of the Vintage air system, of course it was rather chilly out this morning, like 45ish degrees. We then mixed up a batch of epoxy primer after doing a final scuff on the parts of the car that we hadn't primed yet. By the end of the day the car is finally sealed and primed. Now to make it look nice from 50' to begin with, or 50 mph

I doubt the outside color will change much by May. I still have a lot of makeup to put on this old heap before it gets color. Im focusing on mechanical stuff right now so i can at least drive the damn thing after 10 years since starting this project and getting all the bumps and scuffs and ooop'es out of the way before paint. Thats just my approach, I'm sure there are many other approaches i dont know of lol!
Trevor and Saul came over yesterday to work on some gates for Trevor's shop fence. We rented a skid steer last weekend and opened up th we fenceline by his shop. Took out some trees and pushed some dirt around to make his shop more accessible. It is hotttt here in Texas and it made sense to build the gates in my shop as it is air conditioned and we are still working on getting power hooked up to Trevor's shop. But I digress. This post isn't about off topic gates and ****. We were headed to lunch, so I told the guys to hop in the Sedan Delivery to go to lunch. I wanted to check the speedometer against the one that comes up on MAPS on everyone's phone anyway. Trevor decided to make a short video of us turning onto the State Hwy. The video is not very long but its proof that the old car that many skeptics thought would never see the road does in fact runs pretty well for an old Frankenstein jalopy! The a/c even helped a little considering there is no insulation in the car, or windlace/door seals yet.
It will get out of it's own way for sure! Its not going to impress anyone at a dragstrip but she is a cruiser for sure. 70-75 mph all day long. Just right for the 4 hour drive up to Dewey in September hopefully!

Yep....wasnt able to get it there in May....I made it but the car just hadnt been shaken down enough. It was great meeting you there tho Atch! Hopefully Clarence will be out of Paint/Body Shop Jail by then if he isnt already.
Thanks Dave...rowing through the gears is a helluva Lotta fun but once you hit 5th it takes a minute to push it on up to 85mph. Hahaha. I just need to get some insulation in it. Its like driving down the road in a 55 gallon barrel.
