Wow. Nice. Looks like we are thinking along the same lines.

I ***ume so, but the original floor had only those stiffeners that ran parallel with the rockers and nothing going across the floor toward the tunnel. I just left those that went across and added what I could of the originals.

I’ve been trying to grab an hour or two here and there in an attempt to get the floor pan work finished. I had to make the rear portion of the driveshaft tunnel wider to clear the extra arms I put on the rear end to support the open drive conversion. The floor pan just to the rear of the main floor is not reproduced for a convertible as far as I know, so I had to make it. First off was to make the rear section of the tunnel which needed to be tapered to mate back up to the front floor tunnel. IMG_2450.jpeg I made it in a slip roll but it was only 24” wide and the tunnel needed to be about 27” long. No problem, I’ll just add the extra 3” to the front of it so it will overlay onto the front tunnel and plug weld together. After getting it fitted and cleco’d in, some quick posterboard patterns were trimmed to fit. IMG_2501.jpeg
Cut the pair of panels out of 18 gauge and a quick run through the bead roller, and test them for fit. IMG_2502.jpeg
Close enough, so I tig’d them to the tunnel this evening and after some quick metal finishing, I’m satisfied with them. IMG_2519.jpeg Next up will be the transition from rear tunnel to front portion. ……..Stay tuned.
