Just a little update on my coupe. Built a hood and cleaned up some gaps, lowered the grill shell and traded the blower for a tunnelram. IMG_3373.jpeg

The story goes that it were the Mercedes cars in 1934 that had their paint removed to meet the rules of the Eifelrace where all this should have happened. Even Mercedes Benz tells this story to this day. "Unfortunately" there are no pics or writings of the mechanics in their reports of this significant work through the night before the Eifelrace. True is that at the Eifelrace 1934 there was no weight limit! True is also that silver Mercedes race cars were seen and fotographed weeks before this race and that the rule of 750kg max weight was only installed 6 weeks after the race in the Eifel. Auto Union always raced silver cars.
