Nascar drag racing history

  2. I have been reading the post in this thread.

    Richard Petty and David Pearson (car owner Cotten Owens) both went drag racing after the Hemi was outlawed.

    Pearson hated drag racing and Owens drove the most of the time.


    However it was all match racing and was not affiliated with NASCAR, the N.H.A.R., I.H.R.A or A.H.R.A.

    They were boycotting NASCAR, because the hemi at that time was not available in a production car.

    They could race in the Grand National devision how they had to race the wedge not the Hemi
    !
