These young hoodlums, no end to the trouble they cause!

Just think of the trouble you'd be in if you were driving something crazy, like the Plan II.

funny thing is I drove that wild altered wheelbase car all over the place, 33k miles, never got pulled over once. Drive a ****py old Malibu, it only takes two weeks.

    Ahhh..... The Rag-Picker Theory

I've seen prime examples, true in effect. Jim, however, never struck as such! Who knew?

Me and Silent Bob finally bought a car, we’re cruising down to the boardwalk. F@@kin’ Middletown cop pulls us over for su****ion of mischief.
    TEEN 1
    What the f@@k’s that mean?
    JAY
We were driving around with a deployed air-bag.

The Teens stare at Jay and Bob, confused.

Jim, maybe the cop's parents had a Malibu just like this one and remembered how bad it was?

Then again, with the cop watching the old guy driving erratically (making wide turns), in an old rusty rough looking car, with questionable plates, its probably a good thing the cop was checking you out.

It may be an omen of things to come though. This one might be a good car to just keep the modern plates on... Old plates on an unkept car may draw more attention then you want on the road, when you are out of your home state.

When the new plate arrives, I plan to just put the sticker on the old plate. It's the same number. AZ has fun YOM plate laws...I've got away with it a few times already, ordering a new personalized plate with the same number that's on an old one, and putting the new sticker on the old plate. You're supposed to go through a different process for YOM plates, which includes having the plate inspected to make sure it's in good enough condition. This one isn't. But I think LEOs on the street see it differently than LEOs that sit in the DMV office.

And when I hack up the car and put the Conestoga wagon on the back of it, and dress up like it's 1840, I'll be really su****ious!

I bet the cops were very disappointed when they pulled you over. that car has a "meth inside" sticker on it that only cops can see.

    Wrong county, I hope.

I h***led the ebay outfit that sold me the backwards reading fuel sending unit, and they finally gave me a part refund for it being ****py. So that's a mild success. I "fixed" the gauge this way

Given the overall condition of the car, that fix is an improvement on the overall theme!

After you get the rear cover off you will probably find the bolt that holds the pin in broken off. However they are easy to extract. Unscrew the easy part. Hose out the threads and broken part with brake clean. Use clean dry air to thoroughly dry the brake clean off. Take a brand new pencil and put one small drop of superglue on the eraser. Put the eraser in the hole and hold it tightly against the broken bolt and wait a few minutes. Then gently unscrew the bolt. It has worked for me dozens of times and never failed once.

@SS327 I think you stayed up too late last night. Was this reply for this post?

EDIT: My mistake! It makes sense now. Guess MY morning coffee hasn't hit yet.

Yes, this reply was for this post, I did mention that I need to pull the axles to inspect them.

Neat idea, thanks! I've always been able to get the broken bolt out, but never with this trick, it's always a struggle.

Uhh that’s not gonna help the milage, don’t touch it it’ll only leak worse, just went through this myself, thought maybe I could patch it, nope! New tanks the only solution :(

Be sure to get a tank with the filler neck installed, you might think that’s an odd statement, I was unaware they could be supplied without, guess what, they can and I found it to be a miserable son of Biach to swap over:mad:

I looked into new tanks already and discovered the filler neck thing...that's why I didn't buy a new one yet.

I might find something else that I can make fit. I'm still planning to hack up the back of the car, so that would make it so I could use whatever I can find cheap and make fit.
