Us photographic peons would never be able to see the difference between your shots @Ryan and “real art”. Looks like pretty cool **** to this uneducated onlooker. Keep em coming.

  3. Could be worse, you could think they were perfect! :p

Thank you for the shots and the humanism.

  4. Speaking as a guy that's taken more than one crude snapshot with a finger or thumb obscuring a corner...I like your photos! But I also get and understand your eye for perfection...and that's the reason why some photos make you stand back and say wow as they draw you in while others are just pics.

    Thanks for posting your rejects.

I've been really burned out on car shows, the last few years, so I've really focused on a couple a year and shoot photos quick and dirty. Later when reviewing the photos, I'm often amazed at the results. Your pictures are a great result of the commando style.

@Ryan I KNEW I'd seen you, then you were gone. It's good to know that I don't have a screw loose, at least that particular screw.

I've done the sniper style before myself but without any great lenses, camera body or discernible skills, my shots did not turn out as cool as yours did. Technical perfection aside, there is a great vibe to the film, subjects and of course the setting.

Glad you got to at least breeze through, I hope something gave you a bit of a push to get your ride's autopsy figured out and get it back together.

@Ryan you mentioned being seduced by film, whether for novelty or not. That's not a bad thing. Film, be it color or BW, always just feels more alive to me. That's true whether I'm the one firing the shutter or someone else. Is old gl*** or even fresh film as technically sharp or with the same resolution or the same dynamic range as a modern digital image? Nope. But so what? Do you know about wabi sabi, the Japanese philosophy about embracing the imperfect and enjoying the temporary nature of things? I think that works well with photography, especially ****og photography.

I don't like traveling anymore. I'm happy just blapping an old car down to the hardware store, breakfast, cruise in, that sort of thing. Kinda the same, kinda not. However to my uneducated eye I think you slayed! And I'm glad you had fun and thanks for sharing. PS: I may have some old film to send you.........

I love those pictures, and I confess to not knowing Diddley about the world of photography.
But I know what I know and that is their content is like a fix to me. The contrasts in the engine shots, the coolant tracks on the polished heads, the ***iest roofline of any American automobile, so what that it could have been “better”, and that full fendered deuce roadster! They are what I’m addicted to. Thanks for sharing your experiment.
