A sincere and heartfelt thanks to those who served and serve now. Was never in the armed forces myself but I will put forth both my grandfathers for the roll call.

Martin Arce, 94th infantry, Bronze star WWII
    Lynn Owens, USN WWII

I will raise a glass to honor all who served/serve tomorrow. Thank you for your service. Godspeed and prayers for safety to those putting themselves at risk for others.

I was sent this link today - the singer is a Canadian, Patrick Kelly, and the song is called "A Pittance of Time". He wrote it after visiting a store where they were asking the customers to take two minutes and remember the veterans...and one of the customers didn't.

If it doesn't bring tears to your eyes something is wrong...

In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the world rejoiced and celebrated.... After 4 long years of a bitter WWI, an armistice was signed...the "War to end all Wars" was over...

    little did they know...

I have a Steven Motor Chair, that was designed and built to help the Disabled American Veterans returning home from World War II. Mr. Steven was overcome with sorrow from seeing all the disabled veterans returning home, he felt that he had to do something to help the disabled vets become mobile (to some extent) again, with his help they could at least get outside and move around their neighborhood. So he designed the chair, held a full time job. and worked late into the nights in his garage, with his wife helping him to build the first chairs by hand. A writer published a 6 page story, in the Coronet Magazine in Feb. 1965, telling the story of this great American and his wife and the chair. I will post some pictures of the chair and some pages from the Coronet. To read the complete story, go to my photo site and you will find the story, a copy of company brosure, and more pictures of the chair, in the photo album titled Misc Items for sale. To view go to

  24. I would like to thank all vets, especially:

    My wife: USAF 1978-1998
Had the unenviable task of identifying the remains of the 241 U.S. service members killed in the Beirut Marine Barracks bombing. Still haunted by that event.

    Daughter #1: USAF 1989-Present
    Her husband: USAF 1986-Present

    Daughter #2: USAF 1992-Present
    Her husband: USAF 1992-Present

    The Soldier.

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us the freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organiser,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
    It is the soldier,
    Who salutes the flag,
    Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped in the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
