Sneaking up on a decent fit

 

I did not want to get this involved with this lid but it deserves it. I will add to the previous hackery

 

Involved, indeed... however, if you had not decided to resurrect this lid, it would most likely have ended up on a s**** heap.

 

I find with my project I am more involved all the time then I ever wanted to be or imagined testing my lack of skills. Your lid is looking good and you are getting it done. Saving it working with what you have.

Rumble lid triangle pieces and parts need some attention. These chunks must have come from a channeled car at one time

 

Sweet score! Congratulations. That will keep you busy for a while. Have fun with it. Can’t wait to watch your progress.

 

Fabbed up lower shock mounts. They are guffey, I think I'm going to move original ones inboard

 

I moved the brackets in board and finish welded everything before wire wheeling and painting. New cover gasket too.
Onto upper shock mounts, got most of it fabbed up.

 

Still working like a caveman but getting decent results I think.
More to do, it's bulky and guffey looking but it'll do the job

I've spent a lot of time looking at the trunk floor. This week I started welding pieces in.

One triangle piece bolted in, on to the right one.

 

I also cut off the gutter 'emotional support pieces'

Cut out the remnants of the old triangle support. Cut, fit, and welded the new one
I'm anxious to tie it all together and get this body and floor one unit

 

I've struggled with this trunk area because the rumble lid ties into the triangle pieces and the lid swings down so we need clearance there, it has tobeclose. Small gains everyday

 

I welded the p***enger side in. Driver's side needs more trunk gutter before I can zip it in.
