I was just bad mouthing some "Carolina Squat" trucks I saw along Interstate 10 last week, but then I thought, is the 60's G***er nose high deal any different? As I sat there in my gl*** house, I decided to put my stone down. At least those guys were out driving!
My Avatar shows my fender well headers from my racing days. After thirty plus years they were starting to rust through. I replaced them with the Mopar high-performance cast-iron manifolds. I repaired they headers and they are on my garage wall. When I removed them I took out a leave on each side and it lowered the front by about two inches. I reset the caster after doing that.
I like the stance it has, and it rides better. My friends can't believe it has an Econoline axel on it.
How my Biscayne used to sit shown above. Then I went to front disc brakes, which moved the wheels outboard about 3/4" , so had to pick the front end up about an inch to get enough turning radius. Also, it rode like **** since it was just about on the bumpstops in front. Below is current - just slightly nose down, with rear at same level.
At the risk of preaching to the choir here, I like this photo a lot since it shows a comparison of stock, then lowered, and then lowered and chopped versions. While the top frame isn't how 50-Fraud originally looked, the middle frame shows what she looked like for ~20 years, and then the results of the chop. Since the original build the front wheel wells got radiused for tire clearance too.
