    The jingle is accredited Folgers.

Folgers used plactic containers, both Maxwell & Hills Brothers used 3 rib metal can, cool idea. HRP

I was trying to design some type of linkage for the orginal gas pedal and design linkage for the carburator, I ran across this at Ace Hardware.

    upload_2026-3-9_14-14-52.jpeg

I picked up two of them and a piece of threaded rod, I was able to clean & repaint the two original pieces and combine them with the universal swivel joints and it works like it was made for a '54 Ford and doing so I was able the keep the original gas pedal also.

Put it all in a bag and shook it up and this is the end result. HRP

Stainless cake pan air cleaner held on with a valve cover wing nut (drilled and tapped.) Also used valve cover wing nuts to hold the wind screen and the dummy radiator cap made from a chrome horn ****on. The radiator overflow bottle is an aluminum water bottle. The dash is made from an old discarded church pew, the seats are replacement folding chair cushions, turtle deck hinges are from a boat hatch. I could go on and on… 296.jpeg 638.jpeg

Just p***ing this along. Midwest Control Products https://midwestcontrol.com/shop/products/linkages has a large variety of rod ends, spherical rod ends, cables, rods, etc, that I have found very useful for building cars. You just have to look very carefully through their different categories but they seem to have the best selections and in addition many of the parts have drawings with dimensions which is also useful.

My 1930 Ford coupe with modified 1935/36 Ford dash with 36 open car waterfall and an accessory gauge mount from late 50s / early 1960s commercial washing machine. I salvaged the part from a machine that operated at berylium mine in the middle of nowhere Utah in 2008.

I made a stainless face with a hole for a gauge and such.

I also found some of those at an Ace hardware store many years ago (it's the largest in this area), they didn't come with the neat rubber boots though.

More non-auto parts, I made this for my roadster, the cutdown pedal was originally a gear shifter from a Honda motorcycle.

IMG_1909.jpeg This fits perfectly over a Holley Dominator carb. It’s a $3 flour sifter from Dollarama.

I've seen something similar in the past in Pigion Forge, Tenneesse years ago.

After figuring out what tail lights I wanted to use, and made brackets, didn't want just wire loom to run wiring through. Left over fittings from running air lines, a couple of pipe ******s and, all done, looks good, gets lots of comments.

My old one was sanded and painted black with several coats in between.

    Hello,

When I first saw our teenage cruiser/racer hot rod sedans, they all came with a bumper jack. Attach it to a strong bracket holding the bumper and lift the car up. But, that became old hat as the tire technology got better and the use of any jack was becoming storage under or behind the spare tires in the trunk or in our later case, a 65 El Camino. The aroma of a fresh spare tire always lingering on inside of the cab.

But, as I was a teenager, I had to get a scissors jack due to lack of space in the Flathead 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery. What? Lack of space behind the seats in the large cave? The open space was empty for storage, sleeping and supplies. No storage for any type of jack. So, under the floor of the rear compartment was an opening for the spare tire and jack.

The bumper jack provided by the previous owner, was shaky to say the least. I purchased a scissors jack as it was a space saver. Not in any car we knew, but found at a local junkyard. It fit perfectly in the small compartment and strapped down, did not make any movement noise.

The cool thing was space saving when cranked down to the smallest size. But, the bad thing was, it did not go as high as a standard thin bumper jack. Not that high meant sturdy when jacked up on jack stands or emergencies 100 miles from home. YRMV

You guys have done some great stuff!! Back to the first post- I used the plastic file tabs for file cabinets for my bright light indicator on my '56. Worked good but was pretty light when light was on. I had to take dash back apart for another reason last summer- went in to eat lunch and got out a gallon of 2% milk. That cap was blue and thicker- cut the center out of the cap and used that for Hi beam indicator- that was perfect.

I really like this tailgate latch. I just build a tailgate for my 41. I looked around on here for ideas but this by far is the cleanest look. Nice work @rc57

We got a Polaris gas tank from where my buddy works. We cut off the top stopping right near the filler neck.
    P7270026.jpg

We cut it in half on the welded seam. We put each half into the firewall
    P1010042 copy.JPG

we added a 6 inch strip to the center and ended up with our firewall insert

no carb filter ? cool carb screens. I bought carb scoops for 97's that had no provision for filters. I found kitchen sink garbage screens. good old walmart. you may have to cut a small slice in the ring to fit. piece of cake. dt. 194_0596.JPG 194_0597.JPG 194_0598.JPG 194_0599.JPG

I just picked up some computer server equipment doors for grille inserts.
They are perforated round holes and just wide enough for my model a grille, powder coated to.

Another cowl modification using an old rim to create an enlarged/moved rearward opening that gave needed clearance for the AV8 install and also formed an impromptu ****tershield in the process. Just an automotive part used for a different purpose. DSC00465.JPG

Heater for my truck project. Started with this old lunchbox:
    upload_2026-3-28_9-2-14.png
    Cleaned up & sliced:
    upload_2026-3-28_9-3-34.png
Then made a wood buck to form "louvers" and hand hammered them out:

Rear view with Chevette core (smallest I could find):
