Thanks! They are 275/60/15 in the rear and 255/60/15 in the front which makes the front tires about 3/4” narrower and an inch shorter. Not much difference, but just enough in my mind.

Wheel weight issue solved. Figured I better check lower a-frame to wheel clearance turned to the maximum amount since I expected to have to trim them back a bit. Heck, probably have an 1/8” or so of clearance…. I think I’ll trim them enough to at least double that. Also measured ground clearance under the lower a-arms. It’s right at 3-1/4” static. I’ll have to watch out for dead animals on the highway. Lol

The truck looks better then it did when you started. The white letters look OK.

A little comet and scrub brush every few months, no big whoop! Letters super easy over white walls. I think a 73-79 front is in the future though for that right 70’s look.

Decided I’m gonna try like heck to make this thing run this week! Tired of it just sitting on the lift and me not driving it. Plus, the radiator in my 51 sprung a leak, so now it’s down too until I get that fixed.

Thanks Sam! I wasn’t sure what you would think and appreciate your opinion.

So, mainly worked on the 51 tonight but got to talking to some buddies about welding and remembered my butchered up PS bracket that has been bothering me. Decided to make it better this evening. Still need to grind it down and paint it tomorrow, but it doesn’t look quite as butchered now.

I should have never said I was going to get this thing running this week…. I did spend too much time on the silly bracket last night, but that’s all I got done.

I've found I do my best work when I don't have a self imposed time schedule....bracket turned out great.

I ride bicycles. We have an old saying that seems appropriate for this situation.

"No matter how slow you're going, it's still faster than those people sitting on the couch".

Looks good Jeff . It’s a time ****ing black hole when I start making or modifying parts and brackets . You’re making progress.

So, after making that bracket look decent, found out they cut the other PS bracket too and also figured out what they cut off the one I welded on that would make it better. Pretty sure I just need to make it to a salvage and get some brackets that aren’t butchered. I did figure out the A/C brackets and am making progress there. Just not sure what the heck they were thinking chopping up perfectly good brackets. It must have had something to do with trying to put headers on the truck. But, I’ve about had it for tonight and probably just need to head to a salvage tomorrow and try to start with some non-butchered brackets. No reason that stock brackets can’t work from what I am seeing…

I don’t know why but there is something about these trucks that draws me in. Yours reminds me of the 1980 Sierra Cl***ic I owned way back in 1983/84. The stance is great on yours and a vote for white letters! IMG_3866.jpeg

I think that it's a good, solid, honest, truck. Simple, easy to work on, very little pretension.
Good room inside, good proportions. Helps that they made a ton of them and parts are available.

I wish! Seems like everything else I own has broken down recently…. And, this week I am trying to get ready to sell stuff at a swap meet this weekend. So, maybe April?!?! This project is like so many at work with multiple unseen delays.

Boy the stance and look with mags and TA's is perfect. Only time I prefer white letters out if they are the BFG TA's. Great project.

  24. A cautionary tale...my brother drove his lowered 87 c10 from MD to FL to visit and had a mishap with a pothole...

His truck is LOW, I think a 5/7 drop. The front inner fenders are still stock and rubbed on every bump. We put some twist in spring spacers in to gain some clearance and it made it 1100 miles home.

Yep, I was measuring ground clearance of the lower control arms a couple weeks ago and remembered doing that same thing on a 67 I had years ago. That’s a great looking truck! Mine isn’t quite that low partly trying to be a practical old guy.

Yes, although starting to wonder if I am actually going to make it or not. Tried to get my 1 ton fixed last night, but didn't get finished. And, I haven't really spent much time getting stuff out to sell yet either...

    Hey Jeff,
My Pops after so many years, of working on all his Detroit Stuff all the time, and not finishing things, finally broke Down and bought himself a 10 year old Nissan pickup for a daily, and just drove the **** out of it! And then had time to fool around with his other cars.
Said it was the best decision he ever made.
    Or a Toyota pickup.
    My 2 cents, peace!
