topher, if that's the car I think it is the guy is from the Zeeland area. He started with a stock T body that I brought back from out west. Here's a picture of his Zeeland T sedan.jpg

Got spotted at a bit over 5,000 ft elevation on the drive home from a show a few hundred miles away. Was about 40 degrees out, and I was freezing my *** off in the car. Had to leave the window down so the windshield didn't fog up, hadn't sorted out the defrost situation at the time.

Very cool! I was caught once driving home from work, but much closer to home than you were. One of my friends sent me the pic.

Awesome, yeah I don't do facebook or social media at all (unless you count forums like this as social media, which I don't, so I can say I don't do social media)....I had about 10 messages from friends sending me that screen shot by the time I got the car in the garage.

I also don't remember his name, but he had a pristine all original 58 Bonneville that his dad ordered when he owned the dealership. He used to bring it out to a small car show at the airport every year. If I recall it was 2 time green, I loved that car. I was up there from 2015-2019.

    Sorry for the derail.

  10. As the current custodian of my car I try to drive whenever I can. I love the feeling of getting behind the wheel and heading out of the driveway. For me it is a feeling of nostalgia when I'm behind the wheel. I often think about how many people over the past 85 years have sat in that car and the places it has been. The Mercury turns 85 this year.

I'm not shy to take her out just to run errands. Although the flatty doesn't like 'round town driving the return home journey is a good open road drive.

Thank you Jeff for stating this kool thread. I've been driving them for years and feel sorry for the guys that miss out on the Blessing. I just got my '60 back on the road after years of neglect. Looking forward driving it a lot this year. Driving a kustom or hot rod daily is great for the soul.

You haven't experienced a true road trip unless you have gone on a family vacation. We have been to Colorado and Florida. Picture of the Merc is when my 6year old son projectile vomited in the back seat. Good Times....

Oh I don’t miss those days of the kiddos getting car sick and trashing a perfectly good car :D

No projectile vomiting, but one of the kids dumped a whole large cup of coffee in the car on this trip to St. Louis. Oh, and even in this pic, the kids were complaining about sitting on a wet rear seat after I found out the rear window leaked during the monsoon the night before in Springfield.

And, man, all this talk of driving this stuff is making me itch to take off somewhere. Thankfully, I will have my radiator and heater core back for the shoebox later today so I can at minimum get back to daily driving the shoebox.

My not so happy, happy, happy son in the back was never happy about not sitting in the front. Hard to rotate through all four kids getting to sit up front.

Yes indeed! A lesson you have to learn early when you live up here in Washington (the state, not the cesspool). If you're not willing to drive in the rain, you ain't driving a lot here.
