I can't make up my mind.. I was thinking black frame black scallops and the rest of the car Wimbledon white..its running a hood and sides...Now im thinking Wimbledon white frame and body with Washington blue scallops...The car is almost ready for color..the body is in primer as well as frame at this point going to need to order paint soon..the car was yellow no offense to guys that like yellow but thats not me or red...pictures, thoughts any help is appreciated..I like black but dont want an all black roadster...the more I look the more confused I get
I always leave colour choices to my wife ,she’s never been wrong yet , in 40 years of building cars. We did build a model of our long owned 37 coupe and she tried a couple of colours on that before settling on gold and cream. Looks awesome.
I always preferred the frame painted the same color as the body on '32s...sorta ties the car together You can get away with different color frame than body on a Model A on deuce rails cuz you know that body didn't originally come on that frame
Maybe I will just go with a solid color for frame and body .just dont know I keep looking at images ..I appreciate the replys.
I have a friend that is building a '40 Ford truck and has been agnoizing over the color - for over a year! I guess that's why so many of my cars have stayed in primer. HRP
The version of your 32 roadster choices started with scallops, which I like to draw on anything… Hello, Reading the description that started the whole thread gave me several choices in my drawing forms. I had a 32 roadster I drew many years ago to commemorate the friendship I had with Jack Stewart of the L.A. Roadsters. It was an eye opening cruise going with Jack and his red 32 roadster on several visits of shops and friends. I had fun drawing what I remember from his immaculate 32 roadster. But, your choices were puzzling. Of the three choices I originally drew in white, the Black frame and white body looked the best. All white, frame and body looked awful and lost in the snow. The blue scallops were what I had fun drawing and adding/subtracting choices. First it was just white roadster and blue pinstripe outline scallops. But that looked too empty. Then the color change in the scallops needed a brighter shape and color so, I used a brighter blue to contrast the blue color you like. Now, that looked like a custom hot rod from the 50s-60s that we have all come to like immensely. Now, not harping on an all white color, but as I was drawing it, on white drawing pad, it was getting difficult to see the contrast. So, I used a blue outline to show the shape. Yes, white hot rods or any white car will stand out on their own merits. But, the tired old eyes could not hack drawing, so I had to put in the blue outline to give me some contrast. Now, it looked like a roadster, not white on white, on white with black tires. So, perhaps a Pearl White Paint is in the picture? I can’t draw pearl white in anything… Jnaki Now, since I decided the top gives you all weather, including sunny days, protection, I liked the look of all black wheels to go with the overall look. Despite white not being an “imposing color,” compared to black, the American Racing Equipment 5 spokes painted black give a “new look” in wheels. YRMV
since you asked frame and body the same for sure definitely not silver. at the midwest roadster run somebody ask which car was mine I said the black 32 joking over 1/2 the cars there were black 32 roadsters. I am going to say they all looked good but was a very common color. to me color isn't as important as stance , wheels and tire size. I seen a F1 truck painted the same color as mine after I got the paint but had not painted it yet. didn't care for it at all had second thoughts. I think its great on mine and get positive comments on the color choice often. not so much on my 40 sedan but I like it.
will your car have fenders? Part of building a car is knowing ahead of time what it is going to look like when it is done... I have told many people this. Go and buy a couple of model kits of 32 Ford roadsters and paint them whatever colors you are thinking. there are multiple benefits to this 1. Model building is fun and 2. when you are done you will have a model of your car....
With your eyes closed do what internal visions you see ...... I get visons all the time if you've read any of my other posts. It's your car, try that.
The photoshop thread has been a fantastic source to help answer exactly these types of qustions. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...-to-end-all-photoshop-threads.300531/page-986
I've done quite a few deuce roadsters and have stuck with solid stock style colors, no scallops or flames. I eventually sell my builds and find the solid paint schemes appeal to a wider range of potential buyers
Hello, You have not posted a good photo, so we are blind as to what the concept will be. So, here is what I am reading right now. Fenderless 32 roadster with white paint, and blue scallops. The rest of the additions are our choices of what your roadster looks or should look like. Jnaki I also had a couple of old 32 roadsters without fenders and started over again. So, here is the fenderless roadster with blue scallops and a black top. The frame is black not white or pearl white like the car. There is a mild rake, too YRMV
