History The 28/29 Manifesto

At one time there was a poster size print of this without any print. Anybody have one?

 

I actually like it yellow, but if it was red, now we're talking. Black would look good to, but I don't think it would pop like the yellow or if it was red.

 

Ok, just playing around now, same car, different colors.

Racer and Designer Larry Shinoda's 28-29 says it all. Raw Lakes racer lookin' like its wearin' Drag Slicks in this pix

B*** is right to point out the iconic **** Flint Roadster. Of course there is the Track Roadster styled nose, but the other details like the Reversed Louvers and El Mirage timing tag for one R.L. Flint...I could go on and on about the trick details on this build. It's amazing in person.

I built this '29 in 1968, sold it before finishing it and the buyer made it into a street roadster. I'm too tall for a A Model.

Here’s the Bottema brothers roadster, my personal favorite from a grainy photo in a Tex Smith book, I put an ask out for anymore photos as i’d never seen a mention of it ever in other books or historic photos and then a PM on here from the grandson struck gold. Straight from the family album and A body on 32 rails but still running a hopped up banger in 49’

 

I was told, or read it somewhere that the '28- '29 Ford roadster was popular because it was faster than a '30- '31, and the Early '28 cowl was the real rocket ship. The SCTA rules of cowl modifications favor a '28-'29 as seen in this photo.

Could someone post photos of an "Early" '28 Cowl along side a normal '29, to help understand this early speed secret? Has anyone driven a '30 - '31 Roadster on the Salt Flats as fast or faster than a '28-'29?

@The37Kid other than the date stamp, I don’t believe there is anything different between a 28 and 29 cowls.

 

I've been collecting parts for a 28 Canadian roadster I picked up a few years ago on the way back from Bonneville. These are a few of my favorites.

Not sure about an Early Cowl but here is a Cowl I shot at Hershey in 2013 that sure was "swoopie" lookin' I didn't
need it at the time but do now : (

 

It could be a depot hack cowl. There’s one really similar to that on a ranch several miles from me.
