Work at least means funds gathered for the bits and pieces. IIRC, the trans comes up and out of the interior. Be careful not to hurt your back or have a slippery floor.
haha I've spent a bunch of money on the next project, which is not this. I have pretty much everything to fix my T already, and maybe I can get into some fun stuff.
anybody else getting antsy to go on a roadtrip? I know I am, and so I knew I had to get my car fixed. So I nabbed dads wheel blocks, and found random stuff to fill the center gap so my tires didn't go through them, and then performed the circus that it is to get my car that high off the ground. once it was up there I started inspecting the dirty old thing. my bellypan/frame/skidplate is working perfect, and you can tell it lives a hard life. you can also see the oil from the seeping front pan seal, I'm gonna try and fix that while I'm here too. there's a film over everything, and a bunch of tiny pieces of leaves as well. I also found that apparently I need to shim my starter a little, and at some point I've removed a tooth of my flywheel. luckily I have 167 other teeth to use, so it's fine. I also inspected @CoolForSchool58 favorite part, my flat spotted hairpins. I spent an hour or more the other night under the car with a rag, just mopping up the oil residue off of things. It's nice to put eyes on things after 3 years. the next night I had "help" while she checked out the inside, I got to work taking the turtledeck off. the whole rear end needs cleaned and at least a coat of paint. I also started taking things loose to pull the trans, and when I took the Z bar off I had the thought to modify it like I have meant to for a few years. I added an inch or so to the top and moved the hole up probably 3/4 of an inch. I re***embled it and tried it, and it felt about the same, so I probably need to just fix the pedal, but that's a can of worms I'm not willing to open right now. So tomorrow the plan is crank the stove, and swap out the trans/clutch/pressure plate If I get that much done I'll be happy. I'll report back. .
well, I had a somewhat productive day... It started slow, cause I spent the morning running places and shuffling children. I did, however, while waiting around, have enough time to finish a side project.. finally got a tag topper. and after a bunch of sanding and filing, I was finally able to paint it and polish the face. I still have no idea where its going to be mounted. PROBLEM FOR ANOTHER DAY. time to yank a trans out. If you have followed this saga, you know, i've got this down. within about a half hour or so, I had the trans out, and was ready to clean some stuff up. I yanked out the rubber floormat, and found the evils of the Bonneville rust. that, and a couple handfuls of dirt and leaves. and there you have it! @CoolForSchool58 its ready for pickup! so now its just bolt the old trans back together with the shifter and stuff from this one, and clean some stuff and i'm done! ... ... OOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR How bout we polish the lid? I mean I couldn't re-install it with all those part numbers and stuff... I did leave one cause it makes me laugh. and a few hours and two podcasts later, Polished! Now to give the rest of the trans a wash and... WHY DO I HATE MYSELF? It had letters, it couldn't have letters. and those bumps? ugly. This was as far as I got before I had to go do things like more errands, put kids to bed, pretend to sleep, ect. . . So, we'll see if I re-***emble the trans tomorrow or if I am REALLY dumb and polish it too. I think we all know where this is headed. .
I gotta say that stoves chimney looks a little in effective at getting the smoke out of the shop lol tear down looks like it’s going well, wash, paint, tear down the road and repeat
