Working an old Hotrodders estate sale.
    This is Van Nuys
    Been picked through a lot
This was an Early Riders CC member.

the rant. Don't come expecting a free meal ticket when you have running vintage car and your son apparently has 7 cars. And you are near 70+. Just Drive your old car, borrow your son's hotrods and enjoy what time you have left. It mean be BE HAPPY WITH WHAT YOU HAVE, and fill out your time left with some good memories, the **** you buy doesnt go with you.

PICTURES ARE BEFORE THE SALE, this guy had a Bus motorhome so he built this for his bus.

Here some stuff for you guys to drool on.
Also think about the mess you leave for the rest of your family. Coz a he**** does NOT pull a UHaul.
it actually made me think of organizing a bit more and my piles.

As of today the 40 and the 55 are open to offers.

most all of it is picked through.
also it seems it a lot of HF tools but some cool stuff if you check closely.

check estatesales.net and you'll find it.

Looking at those pictures makes me wonder, does anyone ever finish the sheetrock seam's and paint the walls and ceiling in their garage?

I'm at the point of if it isn't designated for an existing project that I have started it is going away either by listing it for sale or by hauling it to a swap meet and let someone have a deal. The last big piece for my 48 came yesterday and now I need to sell off some other stuff to put money back in the kitty for it.

I'd say all too many guys who were planning on doing it themselves got in too big of a hurry to fill the garage up with stuff. About like when I did the tile around my bathtub including a shelf that takes up about ten inches of empty space at the end of the tub and not long after I had the tile up and ran to town my wife and daughter had that new tile covered up with their bath and hair products before I ever got the grout on it.

This is was after I went though and started organizing the sale piles. Your could not really walk through. And we trashed a bin of boxes and garbage.

  8. Some people like to have things, some people like to build more then drive. Everyone is different, but as long as it's been talked about with the people who will be left behind and they're ok with dealing with it......I say have fun.

The ceiling in mine is finished and painted and the walls are covered with Kemlite fibergl*** liner used in refrigerated truck trailers, makes the walls washable and can be rinsed with a garden hose! But the garage isn't clean and well organized.

I'm trying to get the motivation to do mine. Once the garage is full of stuff, it's hard to convince yourself to do it.

Those photos are a good reminder of why me and Kerry are going through a "Swedish Death Cleaning" phase right now.
We are just about over it all.

That ain’t nothing. I don’t see what you are complaining about. If you wanted sympathy, I guess you should have taken some “before” pictures.

My place is one hundred times worse, and I enjoy it every time I’m out there. It’s my hobby and I’m not dying yet. Plus, I have two younger brothers who are both car guys who can help my widow with the estate.

If I sold most of my stuff now, I’m sure I’d die ten years earlier than if I was enjoying myself.

I went with 1/2" chip board to save the time and expense of sheetrock finishing. It's also more damage resistant and it's easier to hang posters and stuff.

As I look at these pictures it makes me feel a little stressed out about all the stuff in my garage and the things I was saving for that some day car which I know I will never get to finish. A friend of mine's dad p***ed away a few years back and left a large garage filled to the ceiling with lawn mower and snow blower parts and such. The last I want to do is leave behind a hoard for my kids to have to deal with.

Now you need to recruit some help to get that roadster together and drivable before it gets sold off in a bunch of boxes.

When he heard this, a friend with a lot of stuff said, "Hey, if they want to inherit the cash, they will have to also deal with the trash."

My dad was a depression kid (12 in 1929). He taught me to hoard everything - you won't need until the day after you threw it away then it will cost you money to replace it.

My not-big gar is finished & painted, lighted. Insulated, wired, etc. Could see the floor, can't now. May someday. Some shelving is going up(slowly) to help sort ****, motivation is lacking. For a number of reasons.

I've also discovered(hey, damn, I'm slooow...) the reason guys buy so many parts: because the funds that could be used to acquire the whole thing(if even available) are pre-siphoned off via various "unmentionable(here) means", & also the fact that complete whatevers aren't just laying around for the pickings due to age/etc - so you get abit here, a part there, & hope to finalize the ***embly in the future. Which may, or may not, be available to you. But if it does wait for you & you don't have the parts, well, you're fkd... ;( .
