I have had a lust affair with the 63-64 Ford Galaxies since my high school days.

I was quail hunting with a buddy circa 1982, on his family's property, when we stumbled across a 63.5 Galaxie fastback. It was black on red, 4 speed car. I told my buddy I wanted it. He went to his uncle and asked if I could buy the car, he refused. I went away bummed.

I would stop by occasionally and inquire, but no joy. One day the car was gone. The uncle had s****ped it. That car haunts me to this day. I will have one eventually. I'm not a num bers matching guy. I couldn't care less what bolt is in the radiator core support or what grease pencil markings are on the firewall.

Anyway, post up pics of the Galaxies you love.

This car is a lot like the one I found. Different hood, but you get the picture.

The other thing I love about them is they drive great. Full sized cars are like driving a cloud and you can Take 12 buddies with you.

My younger brother had a 63 semi fastback, 390 4 speed. Original owner was a traveling salesman for all of Washington and eastern Oregon. Tall rear gear, those were the days of 2 lane highways over there. Pull out and p***. Not a stop light car, but when you laid the wood to it at 40 or 50 mph, it was gone. Great car, well maintained. Gas cost finally moved us (me included) to small cars. Miss it now.

Ive always like those 63.5 hardtops, just a clean looking car. Last year during Portland Roadster Show setup watched a all black R code 427 63.5 roll in and man that thing had at***ude. Almost made this die hard Chevy guy think about converting, lol.

Those 63-64 Galaxie's where easily some of Ford's most beautiful offerings! Our neighbor's got a new '63 fastback, midnight blue, black bucket w/console, 289 auto, wire wheel covers. What a looker!

I have always been amazed at how cheap they are. They have never garnered the prices of other comparable muscle cars. I will own one, someday.

I like both but slightly prefer the 64’s. This one was at a car show last year.

  15. I don't have a pic but have a story. In the mid 70's, I purchased one for $75. Red with a black top and red interior. It had a 6 cylinder and a 3 speed. The rods were rattling in the engine. I had no place to store it so a farmer friend allowed me to store it in a weed row at the end of a circle. I don't remember how much time p***ed but they needed to break out the weed row and the car was s****ped. My fault for not doing something sooner. That's just one of my short sighted stories from the collection of Ford stuff that I have gone through. Color me embarr***ed over that. :)

Back in the 70’s I used to buy them cheap for winter beaters. I’ve had at least 6-7 of them all between 1965-1969. Very solid, well built cars, easy to see why law enforcement, taxi companies loved them. I had one just like this, but without the 427, just a little 289 2 bbl.

Hell, it's was so unremarkable I almost forgot about it! My second car was a rough '62 Galaxie 4dr sedan. Puke beige and crusty all over. Y-block of some sort & a slug-omatic. $60 from the original coal miner owner. But it was wheels, which filled the first priority. The interior was good, and it was dependable as a stone. I made a Cobra-Jet decal and put it rear center on the gas filler door, just to lighten the mood....

It was like this, only rode hard, then harder....:D

  22. Here are a couple of shots that are in my bank. In my reality they are big, heavy cars that rot out in the trunk and usually come with a thirsty 390, I owned a 64 parts car and a 68 convertible- first car I ever doubled my money on, both were convertibles. But they have great styling. 9DC482C7-1503-4C2D-A326-55920B900292.jpeg 7A28CDAD-F7E1-4F2A-820F-6B0E46E01A6B.jpeg 6FDF976A-82DA-4AA0-8824-C18D52B1ED03.jpeg 8139E6B2-2B8D-4FCE-8B26-7DBFC77D756A.jpeg 24C611B9-AE45-4AA1-A869-AA1BE042680D.jpeg

They weigh in at 3600 lbs. That's not bad. My wife's 2021 Lincoln Nautilus weighs 4,200 lbs in comparison, and it's half the size.
