The other day I went to a car dealer to look at a 1928 Ford Model A but bought this 1936 Ford Club Cabriolet instead, it was love at the first sight. Ever since I started to tinkle with cars in 1978 I almost only have had cars from the 1950s so this is my first 30s car. I do not know much about 36s but it will be fun to learn about them along the way. The car seems to be mostly stock exept for a 59AB (1946-48) engine, dual exaust systems and 1939 hydraulic breakes. The dealer took my 1956 Fairlane in trade, I will miss it but hope to be happy with the 36 instead.
Where did this happen? Barn says midwest or maybe New England, trailer shouts Europe, not sure about plate on tow vehicle…
It is in Sweden, but the 36 was ***led in San Jose California before it came here and prior to that it was from Elkhart Indiana.
Thank you. I would prefered a rumbe seat convertible, looks better with the shorter roof but this has the backseat inside and the longer roof, it shows better in this picture.
Thanks. Yes, mine is a Standard Cabriolet with no back seat and a rumble seat. The rumble seat is basically useless...planning to convert it to a much more useful trunk.
A friend of mine has a 1937 Dodge Convertible with a Rumble Seat that he has owned since the 1980s. When he bought the car I could climb up and sit in the RS but now I do not want to try that 40 years later LOL.
Thank you all for your input on this. We still have a little salt left on our roads here but I have driven the car a bit, around 40 miles so far. It runs real good exept for a litte high rev at speed, I don´t know but it probably has 4.11 gears in the rear axle. But I love the 36 and have no regrets for swapping out the 56.
Got to drive a buddies 35 cabriolet a while back since he had just had knee surgery and it was a blast. I’m sure you will enjoy the 36.
