Fella’s, I have a 1932 3 window that I am trying to get pretty low without Z-ing the frame. I currently have a Speedway medium arch buggy spring with 10.5” of lift and is about 38” eye to eye. The issue is that’s at 38”, it puts the shackles just below the frame and it bottoms out. Has anyone found a wider reverse spring eye spring that is closer to the 46” range? I don’t want to go back and have to do a bunch of cross member work if I can help it.
I've done quite a few customer 32 ch***is with a QC, A rear cross member and a Posie 44 inch reversed eye A spring mounted behind the axle with P&J's 35- 40 spring hangers with a c notched frame and find that combination to get the car to sit about right. When every thing settles I have the shackles at a 45 degree angle so it does not need a panard bar. Yes your shackles are going the wrong way.
If you take a crow bar you can pry the spring to be below the axle. Your car will probably be three inches lower then.
Hard to tell exactly from the pics but it looks like there is not much clearance over the center section as it currently sits. Correctly flipping the shackles will make that clearance less, possibly non existent? Take care flipping the shackles. Jacking the frame ahead of the wheel will help relieve some of the spring tension but you'll still know when it's moved and you don't want to get hit or trapped by your levering device. Chris
