Great work so far!

I'm on the far west side of Wayne county, our youngest goes to that school over there in East Lansing. We'll be there next weekend racing our Corgi at halftime for the basketball game.

Keep on truckin', man. It's looking great. And good on ya for spending all the time you can with that youngin. Time goes quicker than you ever imagined once you have kids.

Maybe we'll see each other sometime when it warms up.

Make every minute count. We nearly have a rear suspension.

 

Will you be using a Panhard bar or watts linkage or similar to hold the rear end in alignment? I ask because of the long length of the trailing arms.

 

They look much longer than they actually are. I do not remember the dimension. But I will probably run a simple panhard rod. I also plan to do a torque arm of some sort.

Looks like you have quite a build going there. I like the looks of your frame setup, much more elaborate than mine. I went with more of a traditional setup, it works ok, but rides a little stiff. I am thinking softer springs in the rear would help a lot.

 

Had a miscalculation somewhere. Went to mock in the engine and trans and some how it did fit anymore. I thought I had test fit it when I built the transmission cross member… apparently not.

Like my buddy use to always say “it’s not the size of your f@$k up, but the speed of your recovery”. So I got out the old shoe horn (cut off and welder). Now are sitting pretty, although I still need to clean up the front crossmember.

 

It’s more complicated than I had initially intended. Working within the narrow frame proved to be more challenging than I had expected.

 

Now you've got me wondering whether i should have removed my center crossmember for a t5, I still have it.
Decisions decisions.

 

You have to open the center crossmember up pretty good but it fits. Your motor also has to be pretty low. Hopefully should leave a decent amount of room for pedals though. Fingers crossed.

 

Thanks Think I will reinstall it and hope for best, Will be a small block Ford and T5.

 

If I remember right, Ford small blocks are a little bit longer than Chevys. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong. May want to confirm a few measurements.

Motor mount mania!!! Ran a Hurst front motor mount to leave additional room for the steering box.

 

So Sunday morning I did some mock up and rolled my ‘31 into the driveway. I wanted to make sure my axles ended up where I wanted them and I was pleasantly surprised. It’s a lot smaller outside the workshop. My daughter then used it as a jungle gym for the rest of the morning.

How’s it looking, what are your thoughts, comments and concerns.
