I always find something to buy. There was a person that had 3 Weiand intakes single four barrel for SBC for 50 each I thought really hard about making a offer for all 3. they wanted 50 each.

    I don’t know yet.
It seems to be ignition related. I will probably look at it later today.

At least it is an easy fix. Although last time that happened to me on my Chevelle, I found out the distributor gear was worn out. :)

The engine probably has about 3500 miles on it now. we put a new Melonized distributor gear on the distributor because the engine has a Hydraulic roller cam in it.

I believe that the tach cable broke because the tach has quit working :(.

Yea, mine had a bronze gear on it and has a solid roller cam. Had another one recently wipe out a distributor and cam gear since I was running a steel gear on a hydraulic roller... Learned my lesson on that one.

  15. I detest Gremlins!! I appreciate ones that are so simple when finally found. Really glad it was nothing more serious.

When the tach quits its usually the gear inside the distributoro_O

how hard would it be to change the gear without pulling the distributor?

Make sure the distributor clamp still has some arch to it. A lot of times they get overtightened and flatten out thus losing the hold down strength.

Sadly you have to pull the distributor to fix it....pull the cable off the distributor first and try and spin the cable with your fingers to see if tach moves at all. I believe theres a couple of you tube videos covering the gear replacement process

Well it’s a pretty day here today. I thought I would go home and get the Vette and drive it. On the way back I had technical difficulties. The wiring shorted out at the connection on the firewall in the engine compartment. I managed to get it disconnected before it caught on fire. IMG_3383.jpeg
