I need some opinions. Will this boat be the most bitchin' craft on the water, or will it just be really really tight?

This is a project me and my Cousin, Uncle and Grandfather are working on for me. Eric might have mentioned it but just so you guys get an idea of what it looks like, here it is. It is exactly 10 feet long, will weight about 500lbs completely loaded with one person in it, and yes, to satisfy the power/speed/adrenaline junkies (like me) around here, a 1969 Merc 200 20hp outboard. I will also post finished pics as well as updated construction pictures if you want. Heres the back right:

looks good, but afew things.I don't think you'll be close to 500 lbs.unless your up around a duece !!.The Transom needs to be alot heavier, should be around 1 1/2" thick. with layers of 1/2 or 3/4" ply, reinforce the shit out of it & glass the edges. And Lastly the engine has to be raised up qiute a bit.The last skeel should be even with the bottom of the boat, an easy way to do that is raise the motor, rather then find a real short shaft. The orginal merc racing motors had little tiny lower units with no reverse.
You're not going to believe how fast that boat is going to be.Just be real careful in it!!

yeah, it's a deuce. you'd have to be buddies, but two can fit in it. the hull will be glassed, and the motor is just about where it needs to be, i know it seems low, but the cavitation plate is only an inch below the bottom of the boat (i think its an inch. ask tinbender but i think that's the right measurement). the transom will be reinforced with several metal rods from the bottom of the boat. the kit instuctions say that the transom can handle up to 25hp, so i think that'll be good. the inside will also be sealed with epoxy. i expect this boat to do about 35, but it'll feel like 90 in a boat that small. well it's time for bed here im falling asleep on the keyboard.

  8. Thanks Jimv, I sent you a PM with some more questions. This is a new hobby for us.
Were just guessing top speed, how fast do you think she'll go?
