I was thinking that since we are going to lose most of that radio pod by the time the dash is narrow enough to actually fit in the car, maybe it would be better to smooth off the p***enger side?

What about narrowing it in radio pod and dropping the radio to the lower panel. That way you would keep the glove compartment and I think it would balance the look better.

OK, it's a little rough (Don't laugh at my Photoshop skills), but this is what I'm thinking at the moment. Surely, 57 chevy custom interior 4.jpg I'm not the first to think about putting a '59 cluster in a '57

Sweet, but deal fell through it was in West Va. in Dec. & I was in Ky. couldn't get any shippers to pick up & deliver because of snow. Local person bought it.

Got my eye on this 61 Dodge, it has a ton of work in it, but before I pull the trigger, I'd like to see it a little more to my taste. Front pillars chopped to bring roof line down more flat across, tuck in that rear bumper, bring hood down level with fenders, & now a color. I'm remember these coming with a very pale mint green or an aquamarine, but this is a mild custom so I'm thinking we have to do a Windfield fade or a Larry Watson panel paint job on it. Front wheels painted darker than body color with chrome spider cap in center & of course in has to be slammed, bring that body down over that front wheel to really tuck that front wheel up in the fenderwell. Have at it guys. B.T.W. thanks in advance.

. . . smooth out the fender skirts to the body.

Hey Stan Back, I hadn't noticed that but, to tell you the truth I'm not much of a fender skirt guy, I prefer to see all four wheels, but they are there & I thought I'd leave it up to the Photoshop artists on here to do their thing.

I started with a another pic of a '61 Dodge Phoenix, which I think is the model you are looking at. Chopped the top with a flatter roofline. Got it down low. Then used some artistic license: '61 Chrysler rear wheel well. Re-positioned side trim. I went with hubcaps as I couldn't find any nice spider caps in the digital garage. Finally a Gene Winfield style fade.

Wow, you guys hit it out of the park on redesigning it. I didn't notice it when it was white, but now that I look at it low & in paint that is one long Dodge. I may have to reconsider buying it now. Thanks Guys.

Saw this 39 Ford for sale and was wondering what it would look like with a white Carson tops.
    Thanks!

61 Dodges have the coolest rear fender openings. I bought skirts for mine but sold them later as it looked better without them

AI is not that good on old car things. not sure why AI can't go to Google Images and pick one of these.

Screen surround would want a bit of reshaping, but here you go...

Wow! Looks cool. Thanks! I’m considering buying it. The owner says he can make the top.

I always think that Carson tops are probably not super hard to make, but that they are very hard to make nice looking. There's a lot of curves in them. Or there really should be at least.

    Hello,

I was looking back at my files and found a 40 Ford Convertible I was drawing for my wife. She had taken a photo at an old car show she went to with her sister a long time ago.
    upload_2026-4-14_3-57-27.png
I was so impressed with the convertible and the quality of the photo my wife took with her phone. Ha!

So, since we were moving into the grand kid days, we had to have a larger convertible with a good back seat. My first drawing was a 4 door and that bit the dust.

A story on making the California top for phaetons and convertibles:

With some changes, I made a California Top for the 40 convertible.

One piece, with the shape not looking like a bowl, but following the lines of a real convertible top... YRMV

With some subtle scallops, it gives some other custom highlights to the 40 Ford.
