My Grandfather with his Dodge Coupe with a tow rig in the trunk that he used in his Business, Fred Ballew Auto Repair 428 E. Pine Street, Stockton California. 1916 to 1968. (The dog's name was "Tim").
I've had a couple of dogs that loved going in my trucks including a Shepard/border Collie that was usually with me in the 48 in Texas in the mid 70's and may have gone for early Sunday Morning rides with my buddy Jr Fisher in his truck as they were pretty good buds at the time. All my photos of my Aussie Harley are in my 71 and OT for here though.
Dog in my avatar rode with me for 15 years. Hard to get use to not opening the back door for her to jump in. Her ashes will go together with mine eventually.
My English Bulldog does not like riding in my truck, car or even putting a harness on, I guess the 6 hour ride from where we got her was enough to break the habit so to speak. Whenever we go to the vet she thinks I’m going to throw her off a bridge or something

Hello, We had a small Toy Poodle. She was a very active dog from a little dog to her old self at 9 years old. We did not have a large sofa and when we went to friend’s houses, she never had doubts about her ability to jump up on our laps from the floor level. Every chance she got, she jumped over everything. It was like an Olympic event for her, despite her small stature. She rode inside of my jacket when we went bike riding along the coastal trail and in city boardwalks. But, she did not like the Harley Sportster as it made a loud noise. Jnaki One day we found out that she was sleeping in between the two of us in the El Camino. We were driving in the country side and saw some horses. But, she was sound asleep. When my wife said, “Look, horses.” Our little dog must have heard and jumped up on the back seat top and ran across the narrow ledge where the air shocks valve was located. Somehow, she had good balance and ran back and forth until we p***ed the area where there were horses behind a wire fence. Perhaps, it was the aroma in the air. But, as a joke, later on along the beach highway, she jokingly said, “Look, horses…” and so, out of a dead sleeping position, she jumped up on the seat back and again, ran back and forth issuing a snarl or two. Ha! She loved riding around with us in the El Camino and if my wife held her up facing forward, one could see her face turning to watch the action ahead of us. Yes, she did lay down on top of the seat back and used that area if she felt we were nearing any horse grazing areas. YRMV On one road trip to the beach, she met a friend and ran around with him.
We moved back home but the big dogs weren't ready to unpack. Taking a break somewhere between Roswell and Waco. Lined up waiting, su****ious of an upcoming truck ride. We had to put Lucas the (we believe) Yellow Huskador down this past October. The belly buldge and him slowing down some was due to liver cancer. We had him for 5 of his 7 years. Perfect playmate for Samson the 8 year old German Shepherd. They were all born between the summer of 2016 to 2020, Lucas being the youngest. Lucas was a gentle dog with cats and other 4 legged creatures. Especially the neighbors goats and sheep. I have a video of the doelings calling him over to nap with them. Being a full grown stray he did have to eat. Anything that flew was food to him. Doves, sparrows, anything the idiot neighbor wasn't smart enough to clip the feathers on was eaten when it came over the fence.
