Sure can’t haul much feed in the trunk with the 3” lowering blocks. I normally haul way more in one trip but this car makes a lousy pickup. :p

  2. Oh well, another reason to take the old car for a drive.

Good point. The feed store is 30 miles from my house but in the same town I work in, so I haul in what I can. The guys at the loading dock never know what I might load in next.

My '51 coupe had 3 inch blocks in the rear on original sagging springs. The driveshaft would rub now and then so I cut them down to 1.5 inch and all is good.

I saw a dude in town this week with a ****atoo on a leash, lol. Didn't know that was even a thing.... It had on a little harness and was standing on dude's shoulder. Like a modern day pirate...

I put lowering blocks with dropped springs on my first shoebox and it was okay but a pain in the booty to set and adjust the breaks. So on the one I have now I just put 4” dropped springs and 1” dropped shackles for the same drop with less fuss. It rides a lot better and no severe sagging if I put my kids in the back seat.

Yea, talking about that one over in the off topic section. I did get my 1 ton fixed last night and drove it today so I can get a full load of feed before I take off the rest of the week to go sell parts at the Duncan Swap Meet here in Oklahoma this weekend.

Sad day in my hometown. The local drive-in sold and they will be tearing it down soon. There was a car show there today and I swung by after I got home from the swap meet.

Yea, I can hardly blame them for selling. They were rarely very full on the nights they showed movies and the offer on the land had to be WAY more than they would have ever made on showing movies to very few people. From what the news reported, they made out pretty good on the property.

As long as they keep Route 66 alive.
There is revival on certain parts of it
In different states. New Mexico is into it.
And Parts of Arizona. They better keep the Blue Whale in Vinita!

Was just reminded why carrying tools and extra parts is a good idea when driving an old car daily. Just had to swap out a clogged fuel filter. Guessing that ****py 10% ethanol fuel I got a couple days ago after leaving the swap meet “cleaned” some **** out of my tank and sent it to the filter. Anyway, thankfully I had everything I needed to swap out a fuel filter other than some teflon tape which I will add after I get home. Amazing how problems arise right before needing to take a longer trip to Missouri next weekend. I suppose I would rather find the problems now than on the way there. :D

Your plugged filter, reminded me of something, and all this talk about ethanol.
I forgot I had my tank boiled and red-koted so I looked it up and it looks like it’s safe!
    Whew!!!
Glad you had a spare filter with you.
I need to make a little tool kit for the doll too. I keep forgetting. I do keep my jumper thing with me.
    I have that several times!

I’ve got a NAPA store in my trunk, everything from ignition parts to carbs, generator, starter, water pumps it’s there. Dad was not going to need a parts store if it broke down and a full set of tools to boot. I know as soon as I pull the parts box out of the car then I’ll need it. So I think it might live in there for a while until I am sure it’s not gonna put me on the side of the road.

Got the oil changed, brakes adjusted, fluids checked, and fresh coat of Rain-X applied in preparation for a trip to Springfield, MO this weekend. I still need to do a few more things and make sure I have plenty of tools and some spare parts and fluids, but making progress. Planning to leave Friday morning. Oh, and put a couple awards together for the event this weekend as well as the one next month in Wisconsin. Artwork on the bases from Alan Childers. Picked those up today and realized that my car seems to be boiling fuel when sitting in traffic… It wasn’t all that hot today but if I sat still in traffic for a while it would act like it was starving for fuel until it ran that hot gas through a mile or so down the road. Did fine after that all the way back home about 20 miles or so.

Car made it to Springfield, MO and back over the weekend with no issues. Then, church yesterday and work today. Oh, and had a dentist appointment this afternoon so took my grandson since my wife had to head to work. He ****ered me into getting him a sword at the store…

Yea, I suspect he will. I know all my kids sure remember the road trips in the old cars. My oldest one drove himself and his girlfriend up to Springfield this past weekend mostly because he has such good memories in the old cars. He was trying to explain to his girlfriend how we would just be driving around. She didn't get it... Not sure if she ever did or not.

Sad to hear about the drive in, but not surprising. My aunt and uncle have a few movie theatres, including one drive-in, and they say that there are fewer and fewer theater-release movies being made, with streaming stuff being much more popular to produce now. It's much harder to get people excited to come out to a drive in if there aren't any new movies worth watching.
