  1. So, Gene, you're telling me there was a vague memory of a truck and you rebuilt from there. NICE WORK!

    Thanks guys.
Yes, 'a vague memory of a truck' was a good way to describe what I started with. My truck is a long way from being perfect, but its a great driver, in any weather conditions it has been in so far. I built it to drive, any time I want to go someplace. It works better in the snow then my wife's 20 year old front wheel drive appliance vehicle.

I get so tired of the self righteous people that have actually yelled and have actually cussed me out for me destroying my own truck, while they are driving a nearly new $50k - 75K truck in the same weather conditions. I can't wrap my head around the thought process that they can accuse me of doing something wrong while I'm enjoying the old truck I built, and they are destroying their new truck worth 2x -3 x as much money, that they are still making payments on?

Old cars and trucks are meant to be driven. They can be rebuilt again!

I did some running around today and I had more folks comment and ask what year the car was than I have in a long time. Nothing but smiles and thumbs up, even from the local deputy sheriff that had to pull up for a look:cool:

    Yeah today was good:D

If we are out on the weekend people always ask where the car show is. They think it's great when we tell them we're just out for the day. No shows.

I got that question at a restaurant in the town where I work at 5:30 AM the other day. I said “not sure, just headed to work”.

I’m thinkin you need an overdrive or a different rear gear.

That's about right for a stock car. My 67 Chevelle I had in my 20's had 3.73 gears and a 2 speed Powerglide would tach 3400 rpm at 70.
My 72 c10 I had last year would tach about the same. Drove it everywhere.
    I currently have a 71 c10 that tachs 3200 rpm at 70.
My 56 chevy truck will be around 2400. It has 2.78 gear.
My old 54 210 chevy was stock and would be at 3500 at 70.

20260320_142158.jpg 20260227_103009.jpg every single day! To and from work, grocery store, parts hauler, etc. Unless I have my toddler with me in which case I have to drive my wife's newer appliance SUV because child seat anchors. But building anchors is the next thing on the list.

Doesn't seem to make any difference if I have the coupe or the 40, a gas stop seems to turn into a half hour car show.

I've found that it doesn't really matter where I park , someone will typically come and park right next to me. Might as well save some steps and park closer!

I guess I should have taken a pic at Walmart this evening. I parked up close but it was an end spot. :D

Hey I did fire the woodie up yesterday and let her warm up a bit. I have a couple of things I need to address but hopefully this weekend I’ll get it out and drive it

Had to run to the bank to make a deposit and I hit the interstate to put a few miles on her. You can tell she’s a daily driver now because of all the pollen on her:p:p IMG_4367.jpeg

I've driven my 49 146 miles since last Wednesday, but currently have no way of transferring any pictures from my camera to my computer.

OK, I drew you a beautiful picture of me driving my truck through our local park this morning, the sun was out, and the temp was around 65 degrees. I can't scan the picture onto my computer, nor can I transfer a picture from my camera onto my computer, so...
I'm currently holding that picture against the monitor on my computer, can you see it? :D

Edit. That didn't seem to work, so I moved the picture over against my desk top's tower, and I'm doing a little chant. My dog is looking at me kinda funny, and has started howling, that has to be helping. Can you see the picture now? :D

Edit. That didn't seem to work either. The best I could do would be to post pictures from the drive through our local park from last fall, that I have saved on my computer, but those sure are not recent.

Drove the shoebox 250 miles to and from a swap meet today because it gets better gas mileage than my 1 ton. :D
