We have a 1956 Desoto in the shop and a customer purchased a working Highway Hi Fi record player without the brackets. Does anyone have these or pictures of how it's installed? I already reached out to Jeff at JC Auto with no luck. Thanks!
I would guess that one set of brackets were made for under dash attachments. The one at the rear probably had many holes like plumbers “tape”. A friend in HS had one and I helped him install it. The front ones on his had 2 “ U” clamps screwed it to the top of the unit with a square top screw top pinch it to the bottom of the dash. I don’t remember exactly how the back one on his held or steadied the back but I think he attached it to the rear radio stud that had a factory rear support that went somewhere up by the dash speaker. I don’t remember the brand but he put it in a56 Chevrolet 2 dr wagon.
Look like it didn't use brackets. Appears to be hooks that went into the dash and probably some type of fastener at the rear. These were factory installed so speed of installation would be a factor on the ***embly line.
With those front clip with the rear facing opening and a Chrysler Corporate manual there must be a front facing lip or 2 openings on the lower part of the dash to slide them in. The rear must of at least one hanger or probably 2.
Thanks for the info. I did find a few photos online of the front brackets. I'll have to craw my a$$ under the dash and see where that last support on the back goes.
It slides into a "case" which is a box.......not sure if I still have one.....you can kinda see the case in one of the pictures you posted.....
Could be just junk a buddy that had HyWays in his 55 and 56 Chrysler's....gave me for helping him move thru his divorce...
My NOS Stratafreeze cooler has a simple bracket that attaches to lower dash rail, probably similar to record player?
