well Ford had to swing for the fences with that 83 car as the 81/82 Boxy bird was a pile of junk. That 83 bird is what kind of kick off the aero race of the 80's again.
Surprised no one mentioned those - the conversion was AFAIK officially offered by GM. Strictly speaking not a "car" but...
A interesting fact the Ford and Mercury Aero cars won more races over all then the Dodge and Plymouth offerings, but the wing cars had more wins at Daytona and Talladaga.
mainly because the mopar wing cars were the most effective at those 2 superspeedways. At "lower" speed 1.5 mile or smaller tracks the nose and wing didn't give a huge advantage over a normal mopar body, so full season mopar teams would swap back to normal charger or roadrunners on the smaller tracks where I think Ford teams would not swap cars all season.
Resuming on topic, a neighbor brought home one of the new Pontiac 2+2s, back in the day, it was pretty cool and more interesting than most cars. I don't recall, was the back bubble a hatch on those?
As mentioned the 77-79 impala and caprice 2 doors had the aero window. 80-84 2 doors did not. My first car was a 78 caprice with that gl***. I've only ever seen a handful of them
