Loaded up and heading that way to sell lots of junk…I mean good stuff this weekend. I’ll be in the main building pretty much to the back wall from where you enter if any HAMBers show up. Stop and say hi. Sid Drapal (Nostalgia Sid’s Dropped Axles) is coming with me tomorrow as well to go look for junk he probably doesn’t really need either. If I take any pics, I’ll post them here over the weekend. I went last year and this swap meet is getting better especially after pulling in the pre-war swap meet from Chickasha. Jeff
Oooo I’ll be sure to send you my shopping list just incase you fand something that I can’t live without
Well, I may have broken even so far after paying for the spots and gas. Half the fun of a swap meet is seeing friends though too.
Decided to just drive the 51 down tomorrow since it is just over 100 miles from the house and it gets better gas mileage than my 1 ton. Only ended up buying those skirts for my Merc and one early staggered pattern Cal Custom valve cover. Sold a few things and hoping for a busier day tomorrow. Today it seemed to mainly be other vendors looking for deals that they could resell and make money on.
Made it back again this morning. Took the 2 lane highways to get here so my 120 mile trip took a little more than 2-1/2 hours. Anyway, a couple pics of stuff that fits here including my beater parked with all the other trucks and vans. I don’t think the A is for sale. It is a good friend of mine’s dad’s car.
Thursday to Sunday is a long time to swap. We used to go to a pretty good one in Detroit on Superbowl Sunday. One day only as I recall and every thing was wrapped up by 2 pm. Everyone was there to make things happen, and then get home to watch the game- back in the good old days. Here’s hoping you sell out.
Sold two sets of wheels and tires this morning so that is lightening the load so far. Although, my son is interested in a T coupe body so may be dragging that home…
All the old cars (pre-war) are in a different building. I just got back from there while having my neighbor watch my parts. He didn’t sell a thing!
Actually, the crowd has been pretty good today inside the buildings. Outside…not so much. Temperature is about 40 degrees less than yesterday with high winds. I should probably look for deals outside.
If you're thinking about buying the T coupe keep in mind the doors are uber expensive and hard to find, Howell's has outer and inner door skins but they aren't cheap.
Yep, that one had both doors that were decent, the decklid, windshield frame, garnish moldings, hinges, etc. I think it was priced about right but my son decided against it. Someone did buy it though.
Good doors command a premium price. I hesitated buying a couple of 26-27 T coupe/tudor doors that were at the Lawrence, KS swap meet about a decade ago. I had $500 to spend and the doors were $400. I walked away but came back 10 minutes later after thinking about them (still had gl***, no bottom rust out, still had most of the paint). Of course they were sold and gone by the time I returned. Do you know how much the T coupe body sold for?
Oh, and I suppose I would call the swap meet a success at least for me. When I loaded up to go, I had the flatbed on my 1 ton completely packed as well as maybe 2/3 the capacity of a 5x8 utility trailer with 2 foot sides. When I loaded up to leave, I only needed about 1/3 of my flatbed on the 1 ton to haul stuff home. So, that and what appears to be about $1000 more in my pocket, I am calling it good.
Looks like a great swap meet. It's on my list because I am a prewar person. It's important that the Prewar Chickasha swap meet was continued.
