I have seen shops like that in NZ and many on here in the background of workshop pics. They are real. the not get your hands dirty lot call them ''man caves''. JW

My shop sounds like Danny's. I have little goat trails that you use to get from one place to another and just enough room to stand in front of benches and floor-mounted machines. I've been trying for ten years or so to clean up and downsize. However, it seems to get more crowded every day.

Might even get motivated enough to do something today. Was going to go to the World of Wheels show today, but a buddy reported back yesterday that it’s got way fewer vehicles and too many repeats (& I hate that) so gonna save my dough and turn some wrenches instead.

40 miles north would put you in Longview/Kelso. I missed out on a good car show up there because of this dizzy **** last year. I got an invite from some fellas at Rod Run last year. Nice boys.

Well I just figured I probably wont get this one done this year either. But I will get it done one day. Car is on steel springs with full suspension, and no airbags. Just a real clever guy who did the build.

 

Planning to finish my '33 Plymouth coupe before November so I can drive it to Immokalee FL for the Rockabilly show and over to Daytona Beach for the Turkey Rod Run, lots will be changed, 1959 361 V8 and A833 instead of the 318 truck engine, 4" dropped axle and radius rods instead of the Mustang II setup, thinking Moroso gold and off-white for paint.

 

Do I need another guess?

 

As of noon time today, this one is moving up towards driving

I paid the insurance, checked some fluids and put on the charger to see if we could roar out of winter slumber. Got it to bark before I flooded it (302 with no choke), will try again. I’ll be satisfied to get another season on last years ride.

We have been looking for a 1965 Chevelle Two Door Station Wagon since we sold our red 1965 El Camino. We realized the 125k miles we put on the El Camino was a memory that will last forever. It was the hot rod car/truck that got us going when we were both in our final two years of college.

The road trips we took up and down the California coast TO San Francisco, inland to the forested mountains, the sandy beaches along our area of So Cal and other places we drove together will forever stay with us. Even several trips to the desert for the motorcycle racing scene for as long as it lasted. The three times we drove to Baja Mexico to enjoy the different scene that was our surf and camping spots from my teenage years. She was a tough camper and we did sleep “under the stars” at our own beach side camp spot. Yes!

But, the moisture on our faces in the early morning was a nature made alarm clock. YIKES If our heads were out of the sleeping bags, then we had wet hair and I had not even gone surfing yet… Our faces had a layer of wetness and so did our sleeping bags.

The water proof aluminum suitcases were fine, as we put them inside of the cab. Ha! Waterproof and they were protected, while we were exposed to the elements along the shoreline.

So, we told our selves after selling the 65 El Camino and now only had memories, that our next old car would be a 1965 two door Chevelle Station Wagon. It had the look of a Nomad, but did not have the garish trim to make it a little brash. Besides, there was no real 1965 Nomad Wagon models.

Years rolled into history and a hundred years later, it seemed like we have waited that long, we saw some 65 Chevelle two door Nomad Style Station Wagons for sale. Now, we are looking strongly as our last hot rod station wagon.

It would be our daily driver, with a few style points along the way.

Nothing garish as 19-20 inch rims and low profile tires. We know those low profile tires plus large rims are suspension killers and the roughest rides that can be added to any hot rod or modern station wagons. Plus, the looks are too garish and out of touch. The current choice is the two door wagon, but the color may be in the silver color range, not black. And, not to forget a comfortable ride at a slightly lowered rake.


Note:

There is even a scale model car station wagon, ready to finish to match whatever color we decide for the overall cl***ic look.

So, out the larger rims/tires go, for some nice American Racing 5 Spoke Mags and normal size tires. And, adjustable bucket seats for the best comfort in daily driving and long distance modes. The bench seats that do not manually or automatically adjust the seat back comfort levels are worthless. So, fully adjustable seat and back rests are mandatory for us… Plus, this time, an A/C system. No more wind wings or open vents…ha!
The 1964 to 1976 had tons of road trip miles/adventures and only one water pump replacement at 120k and we sold it at 125k to a young kid from Dana Point. It was the most reliable car we had ever owned. But, the one thing we wanted was a larger interior, a 396 c.i. motor and 4 speed as requested in the first place. Now, the hunt is/was always on and if we found one we like, it may move one of our current cars to our granddaughter’s house. YRMV

Well, it's not a new build, but it looks like I'll be getting Clarence back someday soon. He's been in the body shop since October when it got hit by the runaway trailer wheel/tire in east Illinois on I-64. It was getting primer recently and I should be getting it back one of these days.

And the Model A that trashed the timing gear in Oklahoma at the SK-500 comes back to Missouri Monday. If that had happened near home I would have towed it home and replaced the timing gear myself. But being 350 miles from home without very many tools I had to have someone else fix it. Fortunately Mick Bryant turned me on to a friend of his who just happens to be a very talented mechanic who knows his way around Model A banger motors. I didn't realize it at the time until I met him but he's also an SK-500 participant every year. I didn't really "know" him but we had met in previous years.

So I get back both of them really soon.

As for my other Model A, which is a hot rod project, I thought I might have it on the road this year. The year is half gone and that's not looking very promising. About the only Model A hot rod progress that I can report is that I happen to have a couple of minor parts that Tim will be using on his Model A hot rod.
