That was me, crawling all over an original model A with a tape measure and camera before I built the Depot Hack a few years ago. I had to scale it up a bit, and I imagine you might be wanting to tweak it a little, but that's a good starting point.

The model A I was working on was delivered without door hinges or the hinge panel, since wood is what I do that's what I made them from. I think I was able to get reproduction hinges but the place I got them from is no more. A suitable piano hinge shouldn't be hard to find though, Ive gotten stainless ones from McMaster in the past.

If you are looking for piano hinge, McMaster-Carr has just about any kind of material, gauge and length. I would suggest stainless steel hinges for your project.

I’m with you I like the four door woodies. I want to make this look as close to original looking as possible.

I just looked back at the first post in this thread, you're not going to need a piano hinge for the front door, just use the three hinges already on the cowl. I think it will look better than the original setup.

I have been thinking about a Model A project of my own, I want to build a wood Pickup, wood cab and bed. I want to start with a 30/31 cowl because I think it looks better than the older one. The wood styling will be somewhere between Model A and post war woodie. The A is a little boxier than I want and the post war is too modern.

  7. Clever problem solving using existing design of the windshield hinge. And hats off to you for putting that jig saw to work. Use the tools you have and do it masterfully.

Made a rear shock mount from the leftover piece from the universal motor mount kit. Why buy it when you can build it! On to making number two. IMG_5063.jpeg IMG_5064.jpeg
