Me and the kid spent a little while looking at it in the shop this evening, and made some changes to the plans. The inner fenders are just too big, so I think we'll cut them off and make some wood fenders. And the bumper is going to be funky looking, so that will probably come off, too.

Maybe you should consider a Chuck Wagon instead of a Prairie Schooner. Food might come in handy...so you don't have to go all "Donner" on somebody.;)

Staggering that there's so much surface rust yet no holes! The bottom 6 inches of the car wouldn't exist if it was a northeast vehicle.

Take the bumper off and bolt a rough cut 2x12 there!

I was wondering if it was gonna look like a larger version of a Pontiac Aztek with the camping option.. I dont think that now.

Jim, you've built a lot more stuff than I have.
I wonder how much weight is going back on and how that will affect rear wheelwell spacing.
This pic shows the rear center hub a bit higher up in the car than the front hub and the bottom of the doors.
If the new body and all your gear is the same weight, expect the same height.
    Still very tall arches.

I measured the clearance between axle and frame, and there's about half a foot more than that between tire and the top of the wheel arch! so it's just too big. I'll set it up so the tire won't hit anything if the car bottoms out completely...which I always do, anyways.

Traditional bigs 'n littles, plus they could fill the rear wheelwells. :D

Not sure of the route to be taken but I'm only a few blocks off of the asphalt Oregon Trail (I-5), so if Jim needs a Sawzall or some wood screws to fix that "Land Schooner" the Inn will be open but I ain't cooking him breakfast.
Oh yeah, keep an eye out for Bigfoot!

So how did we get from a Le Mons Rally Vision to a burning man vision? :)

Isn’t there a thread for cars that are turned into pickups?

Our Australian and European friends will be envious of what we can build and drive here, no engineer's certification needed!
